This is the most beautiful piece of music I have heard in a very, very long time. ❤️

Rick Wright was a true artist.

This is a piano improvisation by Richard Wright while he was in Rome with Pink Floyd. It was recorded somewhere between November 15-22, 1969. Personally, this is the most beautiful piece I've ever heard by Wright. Apparently, this is how he liked to compose. He'd sit for hours and just play like this. Very sad that his creativity seemed to abate over the years.

Visually an incredibly powerful, absorbing film - it really must be seen in the theatre of course, something I got around to once (saw it several times on TCM tv as well). You can tell Antonioni and his photographer loved shooting these wide and colourful American scenes and desert landscapes, and the music compliments it very well, even if the Floyd disliked working with him.

The film feels like a memorial for a time that is now long since lost - just like the much later French film Something in the Air (2012) which is set around the same time and with similar people, a generation that was not as obsessed with careers or "personal brands" as Generation Z. An utopian moment that's receded into the dark with time.

Rick was amazing. This sounds so natural and effortlessly played. He was a unique and powerful artist. He created an amazing atmosphere.

The genius of Richard Wright is seriously underrated, both as a singer and as a piano player. He was the lead vocal in many cool early Floyd songs. I suppose the shadow of geniuses like Syd, Roger and Dave might've been as big as Lennon/ McCartney was to Harisson.
