Rewiring Genesis Lyrics

For my sweet heart
This is the one for me
Time to meet the chef
O boy!
Running man is out of death
Feel cold and old
It's getting hard to catch my breath
Now you've had your flash boy'
The rocks, in time
Compress your blood
To oil
Your flesh to coal
Enrich the soil
Not everybody's goal
Anyway
They say she comes on a pale horse
But I'm sure I hear a train
O boy!
I don't even feel no pain
I guess I must be driving myself insane
Damn it all!
Does earth plug a hole in heaven
Or heaven plug a hole in earth?
How wonderful to be so profound
When everything you are
Is dying underground
I feel the pull on the rope
Let me off at the rainbow
I could have been exploding in space
Different orbits for my bones
Not me
Just quietly buried in stones
Keep the deadline open with my maker!
See me stretch
For God's elastic acre
The doorbell rings and it's
"Good morning Rael
So sorry you had to wait
It won't be long
Yeah
She's very rarely late"
The song "Anyway" by Rewiring Genesis is a melancholic and contemplative piece, which talks about the inevitability of death and the existential questions that come with it. The first verse talks about the singer's heart giving up and how everything is now over for them. They are ready to meet the chef, which symbolizes their acceptance of death as it is time for them to move on. The line "running man is out of breath" signifies how the singer has reached his limit and is running out of life. They feel cold and old, and it's getting harder to breathe as they slowly turn to ash.
The second verse speaks about how the rocks will ultimately turn into oil and enrich the soil, and this is not everyone's goal. The singer touches on religious themes, wondering whether earth plugs a hole in heaven or vice versa. They find it profound to consider these questions even though they know they are ultimately dying. The chorus talks about how "they" say the pale horse is coming, but the singer is sure they hear a train. They don't feel any pain and wonder if they are driving themselves insane.
