U2 Lyrics

Thank you, don't mention it
I'm standing, standing on a beach a bit
A bit i don't want to go
I don't want to go home
She saw what she saw to know
The police, they know
So leave me on your my oh my
I don't want to go i don't want to go
Trever's seems quite clever
But Trever lives forever trever is together
Trever whatever
Calling, the trench in the floor is falling
I don't know what is falling
I don't want to go i don't want to go
Trever's seems quite clever
But Trever lives forever
Trever seems quite clever trever whatever
Trever seems quite clever
And Trever lives forever

Trever seems quite clever
Trever seems together trever lives forever

Overall Meaning

In U2's song "Trevor," the lyrics depict a sense of resistance towards going home or conforming to societal expectations. The persona is standing on a beach, reluctant to leave, possibly indicating a desire for freedom and escape from the mundane. The line "She saw what she saw to know, the police, they know" could imply that there is some sort of danger or wrongdoing involved, suggesting a need to stay away from authorities or unwanted attention.

The repetition of the phrase "Trever seems quite clever, Trever lives forever" suggests the significance of the character named Trevor. Trevor is portrayed as someone who possesses intelligence and resourcefulness, and the idea that he lives forever could symbolize his impact or influence on the persona's life. The repetition of "Trever whatever" could signify a nonchalant attitude towards societal norms and expectations.

The refrain "Calling, the trench in the floor is falling, I don't know what is falling" hints at a sense of uncertainty and insecurity. It could represent a fear of change or of the unknown, which reinforces the persona's reluctance to go home.

Overall, "Trevor" by U2 explores themes of resistance, rebellion, and the desire for freedom. It portrays a character who is clever and holds a lasting presence, while the persona navigates their own uncertainties and seeks to avoid the confines of societal expectations.

Does anyone know the history of this song? Inspiration for it or circumstances? Thank you.

@HarmonicsExplorer

This recording is slower and thus lower in pitch than they actually did this. It should be a little faster/higher pitch to be in Dsharp/Eflat.

@Zaeriuraschi198

I can tell this song became Touch, but this version is better.

@burnlastsunday

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.
