The first time i listened to this record the thing that came to my mind was what an awesome album The Taking is.
The production can't be better, incredible! Terry Date is a genious. Duff is better than ever on his guitar and vocals duties. He's just THE BEST! Jeff rouse is a GREAT bass player at his best in this album. His bass lines are terrific! Mike Squires has done a SUPERB job and has really good guitar solos in The Taking. Isaac Carpenter drumming is simply GORGEOUS!
In general i'm sure this album will put Loaded in its place as one of the best rock bands out there. Great musicians, players and songwriters. The Taking is the best album of the band,no doubt about it. Loaded has matured since Sick was released and you can feel the band's chemistry playing together in this wonderful album. This is the heaviest and punkiest album of the band 'til now. The lyrics are dark and in your face. In fact, the whole album is in your face!
The opening song Lords of Abaddon is really hard and punk rocker. One of the best songs in the album.
Executioner's song is a tune we know from their EP Wasted Heart, but in this album has been improved and sounds better and heavier. Great song.
Dead Skin is the perfect first single and video. One of my personal favourites.I love the lyrics.
We Win is the most anthemic song of the band. Perfect for sports and singing along in gigs.
Easier Lying is a little masterpiece with a really cool rythm section. One of the best songs too.
She's an Anchor is maybe the catchiest song in the album and one of my faves. One of the songs in wich i love Duff's voice the most.
Indian summer is my favourite song right now. In my opinion it has a Manic Street Preachers vibe.it would be a perfect second single.
Wrecking Ball is the softest song in the album. Great vocal melodies there.
King of the World is one of the best songs. Very hard and punk rocker.
Cocaine is a jewel. Great lyrics as in the whole album. The acoustic version of the song is even better than the electric for me.The song with the most classic rock sound in The Taking.
Your Name is one of my faves too. Great bass lines there. One of the heaviest songs.
The last song, Follow me to Hell is another punk rock jewel. For me, one of the best songs.
Duff, Jeff, Mike and Isaac are at his best in this album. The best rock album in a long time in my opinion.
The Taking is what a good rock album has to be. Right in your face!
Do yourself a big favor and buy and listen to this album ASAP!
