He was best known as one of the original members of the Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia, and also for his solo career which began with the release of his first album Da Devil's Playground: Underground Solo in 1999.
On October 6, 2015, Phillips suffered a stroke and a brain aneurysm leaving him unconscious and on life support. At around 1:00 am on October 9, Phillips was removed from life support.
