One More Day

Overall Meaning ↴

From a land of iron and snow
Through danger and cold
We carry the banner of the dwarves
Of strength, for freedom and war
Through dangers, for gold
For grudges are burning in us all

We ride, to war, we ride
With sorrow in our eyes to our demise
And if tonight we are bound to fall
There's nothing to be mourned we died as one

As a mountain reigns all above the hills
We stand together over the battlefield
With no remorse we're facing our destiny
Before the dawn of our last day

The day may come
When dwarves will be overrun
When our bones will rest
In the underground
But on this day we stand on the battlefield
To tell the story of those who'll never yield

The day may come
When dwarves will be overrun
And our blood will fall
On the battleground
But on the field we stand and we are not afraid
With no remorse we fight for one last day

In a land of iron and snow
Where dwells our fold
Where rises the power of the dwarves
In mines and quarries of stone
With axes and swords
We are warriors, we are bound to war

We ride, until we fall, this story will be told
In the years to come, and if tonight
We are bound to die
There's nothing to be mourned
We were born to fight

For one last day
We ride, until we fall we ride
One last time the force
Of the mountain will rise again
And if we're bound to die
There's nothing to fear, we ride
One last day we'll advance
As we reach for the end

We'll fall down
And we die to the ground
Where we were born
But now we've come back

Down to fight again
For one last day

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "One More Day" by re-wind paint a vivid picture of the dwarves as brave and resilient warriors who are bound by a sense of duty and honor to fight for their land and their people. The opening stanza sets the tone by describing the dwarves as a proud and strong race, willing to face danger and cold in pursuit of freedom and war. The mention of grudges burning within them hints at a history of conflict and a deep-rooted sense of justice that drives them forward.

The chorus speaks of the dwarves marching to war with sorrow in their eyes, accepting the possibility of their demise with a sense of unity and purpose. They are prepared to lay down their lives for the greater good, standing together as a symbol of defiance against any who would seek to overrun them. The imagery of standing over the battlefield with no remorse showcases their unwavering commitment to their cause and their readiness to face their destiny head-on.

The second verse reflects on the inevitability of defeat and the eventual resting of their bones in the underground. Despite this grim reality, the dwarves stand firm on the battlefield, determined to honor the legacy of those who have come before them. The repetition of the phrase "we ride, until we fall" emphasizes their relentless spirit and their refusal to back down, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

The final stanza brings the song full circle, returning to the land of iron and snow where the dwarves make their home. The dwarves are described as warriors bound to war, their fate intertwined with the relentless cycle of battle and loss. As they prepare for their last stand, there is a sense of acceptance and resolve in their actions, knowing that they are fighting not just for themselves but for the future of their people. The repeated refrain of "one last day" captures the fleeting nature of their struggle, a reminder of the impermanence of life and the need to seize each moment with courage and determination.

I love the idea of dwarves riding boars, things like horses are too tall for them, they need something as short, tough, stubborn and hairy as themselves.

@imaran1303

More a fan of rams myself as it makes sense for dwarves who make themselves at home in Mountainous areas.

@borbarad2.0

Who is more stubborn, the mount or the Mountain?

I LOVE this song.
I don't know why it pulls at me so hard, but it really does. It has some really wonderful energy to it. A combination of "come-at-me-bro" and "I Stand Here" energy.
It PERFECTLY encapsulates Dwarven energy.
