I hope the surgery went well. I'm 36 and got a heart transplant last week. I'm still at the hospital. If everything goes well I will be out before Valentine's Day.

@@thefractured_butwhole His went on for 14 hours. He had more damaged tissue than anticipated . It's been 3 weeks now and we are still waiting for him to come out of the anesthesia but we know he will when he's ready. I hope you are feeling really good and ready for Spring! Enjoy every minute of life and only surround yourself with happy positive people. life is to short to waste it !

How does the donor heart not get hypoxia during the surgical insertion into recipient? What kind of solution is it in before it's fully connected and pumping again? How is it staying oxygenated so the cardiac muscle cells aren't hypoxic and dying?

Truth is these days heart transplants done at Cleveland don't last very long most 4yrs maybe give or take depending on age! No matter if the heart is successful placed ( if the surgeon isn't on a diet coke run and leaves your lifeless body open for infection during the process! But unfortunately all the millions of dollars that fund the research and no safe anti rejection meds! Which means other organs fail! Then let's look at the life after complete isolation because your immune system is very low to keep your own body from rejecting someone else's body part! (Think covid is bad isolation for anyone that receives organs is longer and stricter! The sickness the weakness pain and suffering all while doctors collect data...unnecessary procedures that cause more harm than good. Cleveland Clinic also only allows patients to see doctors within Cleveland Clinic good luck on a second opinion its almost as if they buy patients from other hospitals. The corruption is unreal and innocent lives suffer desperate for life!Not to mention they allow these doctors to decide who lives who dies! It's more like a research lab !

It’s not staying oxygenated, hence the reason it’s absolutely critically that every second counts it’s received to the donor/team. But it is injected and doused in special saline and other things that are critical.

But yeah... It's a serious job and you always have to live with the knowledge that you're gonna mess up at some point and... take a life.
And also see people die, even though you did the best you could.

If the dead person wasn't actually dead but only seemingly dead, then that person will be dead after the donation.

As far as I know it's kind of illegal to take the heart of a living person, even if it saves another life. You can't sacrifice one life to save another.

You can't donate your heart, unless you're dead.

No Hospital that doesn't want to risk getting shut down forever, will sacrifice a life to save another life. You can only donate your heart once you're already dead.
