This was a personal favourite of mine back in the 1960’s.
Also, another favourite of mine was : Hi, Ho, Silver Lining. It was a tradition at Clubs to play this song to ‘Warm the Audience Up’ and boy did it !!! (I know all the words …. )
After listening to all my favourites from Jeff and the boys, it’s with a sad heart ❤and a tear 😢in my eye that I pay a massive tribute to his talent at playing his guitar 🎸 with mastery.
It was a pleasure listening to your music/songs.

Talented guy....and seems always to have been focused. Page just went nuts into witchcraft and Clapton did not really find his humanity until after his son's tragic accident... But Beck always seemed more together. Its a gift, too, perhaps.

On this day in 1965 {April 16th} the Yardbirds performed "For Your Love" on the British ITV network television program, 'Ready Steady Go!'....
At the time the song was in it's second of two weeks at #3 on the United Kingdom's Top 50 Singles chart, that was also it's peak position on the chart and it spent twelve weeks on the Top 50...
It reached #6 on Billboard's Top 100 chart...
Between 1964 and 1967 the London-based quintet had seven records on the UK Singles chart, five made the Top 10 with their biggest hit being "Heart Full of Soul", it peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} in 1965, the first week it was at #2, the #1 record was "I'm Alive" by the Hollies, and for the second and third week the Byrds' "Mr. Tambourine Man" was in the top spot...
Besides the above two, the group's three other Top 10 records were "Evil Hearted You" {#3 for 1 week in 1965}, "Shapes of Things" {#3 for 2 weeks in 1966}, and "Over Under Sideways Down" {#10 for 2 weeks in 1966}...
Lead vocalist and harmonica player Keith Relf passed away at the young age of 33 on May 14th, 1976 {accidental electrocution}...

I love this one and heart full of soul because of the way Jeff Beck incorporated his Spanish guitar styles. Really made the Yardbirds stand out to me compared to other bands at the time - and even today.

I confess that I only know of the existence of this bewitching oldies classic For Your Love by the Yardbirds because of remembering hearing this multiple/several years ago by the time I was a teenager (my late adoptive father enjoyed hearing similar music genres on the radio similar to this song), I'm so glad that this phenomenal live version classic is also available to listen to online.

A great song by the Yardbirds, a great band that was a head of it's time. A few of the greatest guitarists were in the Yard Birds, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. The Yard Birds were great musicians, truly a great band that doesn't get the recognition they deserve.

Very unusual in those days (early to mid 60s) for a band to play live on TV instead of using dubbing. TV stations never wanted to take the risk, and the band's management wanted them to sound exactly like the single so they could promote it (the drummer took some creative liberties here), which was the main purpose of these TV appearances. So this is refreshing! Thank you, Wolffishfish, for uploading this find!

When this show was made, the Yardbirds were still managed by Giorgio Gomelsky, who owned the blues club where they had quickly achieved stardom. Gomelsky knew and appreciated the electricity of their live performances. And he was a blues freak.

I also didn't get to see them live, for the same reasons. And I don't necessarily mean to praise Gomelsky. But his interest in the artistic merits of his clients was certainly a plus, at a time when most managers had dollar signs for eyeballs and straw for brains.
