(Loney Toons sound clip: I am A vampire!)

(Santa just told a lie,
The rest of us out of reach...
Everybody party time!
Some of us will never sleep again)

(Rest is good for the blood!)

Santa just told a lie,
The rest of us out of reach...
Everybody party time
Some of us... Will never sleep...
Again

Dracula.
Dracula, dracula.
Dracula, dracula.

Santa just told a lie,
The rest of us out of reach...
Everybody party time!
Some of us... Will never sleep...
Again

Dracula.

Dracula, dracula.
Dracula, dracula.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song DRACULA by ½ÖÍ·Íçͯ(Gorillaz) present a portrayal of a party scene where Santa has just told a lie, and the rest of the people at the party are out of reach. The lyrics suggest that the partying never stops for some of them, and some of them will never be able to sleep again. The chorus of the song is repeatedly sung, declaring the name of Dracula.

This song can be interpreted in different ways, but the most common interpretation is its reference to the famous vampire, Dracula. The lyrics may suggest that the partying is happening in Dracula's castle where they are celebrating, and Santa tells a lie about something that he should not have done. The song highlights the idea of eternal life that vampires possess, and how they never sleep. The reference to Santa is perhaps to emphasize that even jolly and honest figures can be deceiving.

This is a testament to how great of a novel Dracula is. One single chapter has enough things in it to make up its own horror story. This is one of the books I wouldn't even be against splitting into multiple parts. Jonathan Harker's stay at Dracula's castle, the voyage of the Demeter, Dracula turning Lucy into a vampire, the heroes chasing Dracula back to his castle, all of that can very well fill many movies.

Tzar Von Kaizer

If so, why not a tv series.

Gary

@Tzar Von Kaizer they've had a few.

Roman Xavier Kostan

@Gary Dracula on NBC was my favorite, sadly only one season but that's NBC for you.

Brad Hamann

I agree. Have read Stoker's novel several times and it's a masterpiece of timing and multiple viewpoints brought together in a heart-stopping narrative!

KazeAizen

@Brad HamannI only just “read” it last October (thank you OSP Red) and this was easily one of it not the best part of the book.

The absolute best aspect of Stoker's novel is the episodes of unnamed, unsaid horrors. Demeter is not merely a vessel for transportation of evil. Based off of the captain's log book entries, the reader only imagines the travails of the passengers aboard that ship. And now we have a live- action representation of that. Can not wait. Dracula- the name is enough.

They mentioned this Voyage briefly on Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman and Hopkins.

The Truth Channel

Always thought this was the most un-explored and most theatrically exploitable facet of Stoker's Dracula.
