Make way to ÓCIO’s originality.
Formed by Daniel Furlan (vocals/guitar), Rodrigo Larica (bass/vocals) and Patrick Preato (drums/vocals), the Brazilian trio currently lives in London.
ÓCIO found in late 60’s rock and early 90’s punk influences the appropriate soil for Furlan’s sarcastic lyrics, and in 2006 the band launched its first album, MOOD SWINGS, produced by Sergio Benevenuto. While many of their contemporaries are too busy searching for the perfect outfit and carefully messing their hair, ÓCIO's show and album can easily be translated in one word: rock
The lyrics are hypochondriac and sour reflexions. Matters such as the pleasure in giving up one’s goal or the freedom found in not being loved by anyone, receive a nerd/loser approach by Furlan’s nasal voice, accompanied by Larica and Preato’s constant backing vocals.
MOOD SWINGS aims to preserve the kind of energy ÓCIO releases in it shows, in uncommon arrangements, with blues-rock riffs in a punk mood. However, the result is neither blues or punk: ÓCIO mixes rock n' roll with rock n' roll, no mush.
Rock.

Pump Up the Jam
Ócio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
While you feet are stompin′
And the jam is pumpin'
Look at here the crowd is jumpin′
Pump it up a little more
Get the party going on the dance floor
Seek us that's where the party's at
And you′ll find out if you′re too bad
I don't want a place to stay
Get your booty on the floor tonight
Make my day
I don′t want a place to stay
Get your booty on the floor tonight
Make my day
Make my day
Make my day
Make my day
Make my day
The lyrics of Ócio's song "Pump up the Jam" are meant to get people excited about dancing and partying. The repetitive chorus encourages people to pump up the volume and keep dancing. The verses give direction on how to enjoy the party, telling people to get their feet stomping and encouraging them to get on the dance floor. The lyrics also suggest that the party is the place to be, and that you can find out if you're cool or not by being there.
The chorus of the song, "Pump up the jam, pump it up / While you feet are stompin' / And the jam is pumpin' / Look at here the crowd is jumpin'" is intended to excite the crowd and keep the energy of the party going. The verses continue this theme, with lines like "Get the party going on the dance floor" and "Seek us that's where the party's at" encouraging people to let loose and have fun. The repeated line "Make my day" is meant to suggest that the partygoers are having a great time and that the music and dancing is making their day.
