Round And Round
● Imagine Dragons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We are all living the same way
We are escaping the same way
Circling
We are a part of the same play
We think we're making our own way
Circling

You don’t have to hold your head up high

Round and round
I won’t run away this time
Till you show me what this life is for
Round and round
I’m not gonna let you change my mind
Till you show me what this life is for

We are afflicted by fiction
Building a case for eviction
Circling
Guarding a tower of ancients
Shooting down arrows of patience
And patiently circling

You don’t have to hold your head up high

Round and round
I won’t run away this time
Till you show me what this life is for
Round and round
I’m not gonna let you change my mind
Till you show me what this life is for

All the emptiness inside you
Is hard enough to fill
Without a sense of purpose
We're setting up to fail
You don’t have to make it right
Just hold your head up high

Round and round
I won’t run away this time
Till you show me what this life is for
Round and round

I’m not gonna let you change my mind
Till you show me what this life is for

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Imagine Dragons’ ‘Round and Round’ speak about the monotony and circularity of life, the universal desire for purpose and value, and the struggle to break free from the confines that we impose on ourselves. The song suggests that we are all living and escaping the same way, and that we are all part of the same play. We all think we are making our own way but, in reality, we are only circling around and around. The lyrics convey a sense of frustration and hopelessness, as the characters in the song feel trapped by their circumstances and unable to break free from their cycle of monotony.

The song speaks about the affliction of fiction, and how we build a case for eviction, guarding a tower of ancients while shooting down arrows of patience. This speaks of our tendency to cling to outdated beliefs and traditions that limit our potential for growth and change, while at the same time resisting the difficulty and discomfort that comes from trying new things. The lyrics suggest that we must be patient and persistent if we want to break free from these circles of monotony and achieve our goals.

The song ends with the suggestion that we don’t have to make everything right or have all the answers, but we should hold our heads up high and persevere. Ultimately, the message is one of hope, that if we stay persistent and remain open to new experiences and ideas, we can find purpose and value in our lives and break free from the circularity of our existence.

It makes me sad that the next season might be the last. I love this anime, and ironically, it got me through a really tough moment of self-uncertainty.

csiampos

I don't think it will. there are at least two seasons left, and if they give it the AOT treatment, there'll probably be a movie

@csiampos lets hope so

Anything Gaming

I remember watching this episode the night it aired, and I unironically cried. This song was the perfect choice to add to the feels.

Where the final act kicks in as it's Uraraka, Bakugou, and Iida. The original trio, it is just perfectly timed.

Prwnce

After this episode it was urarakas speech Which prolly made 90% of the watchers cry

@Prwnce the mha vigalante arc was a 10/10

I loved this episode so much! My favorite part is the fact that 1-A's final rescue plan was the exact same rescue plan Midoriya used to rescue Bakugo during the Raid!Arc, right down to having his best friend be the one to take his hand.

Also great at showing how far Deku has come as a hero in terms of power. He's outnumbered 19 to 1 (maybe 16, since Kirishima, Aoyama and Hagakure aren't really fighting), he's exhausted, hasn't slept or ate in far too long, and he's at a further disadvantage since he doesn't want to actually hurt any of them. The fact that he still nearly got away from them is remarkable.

I haven't gotten this far in the anime (because work, family, sleep, and food unfortunately take priority over anime), but by the looks of this, Deku wasn't fighting back but just trying to escape without hurting his friends. Deku had seriously gotten strong while I wasn't watching. Last I saw, he was getting ready to train with a woman that has some connection to All Might. I don't remember.
