From Yesterday

He's a stranger to some and a vision to none
He can never get enough, get enough of the one
For a fortune, he'd quit but it's hard to admit
How it ends and begins on his face is a map of the world
A map of the world, on his face is a map of the world
A map of the world

From yesterday, it's coming
From yesterday, the fear
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't wanna read the message here

On a mountain he sits, not of gold, but of sin
Through the blood, he can learn see the life that it turn
From council of one he'll decide when he's done
With the innocent on his face is a map of the world
A map of the world, on his face is a map of the world
A map of the world

From yesterday, it's coming
From yesterday, the fear
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't wanna read the message
He doesn't wanna read the message
He doesn't wanna read the message here

On his face is a map of the world

From yesterday, it's coming
From yesterday, the fear
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't wanna read the message here

From yesterday, from yesterday
From yesterday, the fear
From yesterday, from yesterday
But he doesn't wanna read the message

He doesn't wanna read the message
He doesn't wanna read the message here

Overall Meaning

"From Yesterday" is a song by 30 Seconds to Mars, released in 2006. The song tells the story of a man who is disconnected from the world around him, but unable to escape its hold on him. He is a stranger to some and a vision to none, suggesting that he lacks deep connections with others. The man is addicted to something or someone that he can never get enough of, and would quit for a fortune, but is unable to admit how it ends and begins. His face is said to be a map of the world, suggesting that he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, and that his experiences have left their mark on him. He sits on a mountain that is described as not of gold, but of sin, and through his blood, he is able to learn about life's turns. Despite being a council of one and being able to decide for himself when he is done, he carries a mark of innocence on his face.

The song seems to suggest that the man is haunted by something from his past, represented by the message that is calling to him from yesterday. The fear that it creates is palpable, yet he doesn't want to read the message, perhaps because it would force him to confront whatever is haunting him. On a deeper level, the song can be interpreted as an indictment of society at large, suggesting that we are all disconnected from one another and addicted to things that we can never get enough of. We carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and are haunted by the past, but are unable to face whatever it is that is calling to us.

I hate I only realize mistakes once I upload them, need to do I better job at reviewing my edits. Towards the final parts of the AMV, I noticed they were unnecessarily zoomed in and it ruined the final moments so I'm going to upload an edited version with just a few added effects and test to play around with this once. Hopefully it turns out better than this one.
