these days
♥3 Doors Down Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I think I was better off before this all began
So clearly I can see lately that you don't know who I am
Everybody tried to tell me something that I never could believe
Staring back it seemed so much different than it did in front of me

But I know there's no good in looking back on yesterday
And wondering what could have happened then
You think you can give me what I want
You say
(You say)
You say
I think I'm better off alone
These days
(These days)
These days

Why should I put my trust in something that I never could believe
So one day you can find something better
Just to pack your things and leave
Loneliness is a friend for the moment but you won't walk out on me

But I know there's no good in looking back on yesterday
And wondering what could have happened then

You think you can give me what I want
You say
(You say)
You say
I think I'm better off alone
These days
(These days)
These days

I'm tired and I'm sick of waiting, maybe I'll die alone
'Cause I can't take another damn day of waiting here for you
To come home to me
Yeah, yeah, baby, baby please tell me why

You think you can give me what I want
You say
(You say)
You say
I think I'm better off alone
These days
(These days)
These days

You think you can give me what I want
You say
(You say)
You say
I think I'm better off alone
These days

Overall Meaning

The song "These Days" by 3 Doors Down talks about a relationship that has reached its breaking point. The singer reminisces about how things used to be better before the relationship started and how they see that their partner does not know them anymore. The chorus shows their resolve to be alone, as they do not believe in putting their trust in someone they cannot rely on. They are tired of waiting for their partner to come home, and their loneliness will only be a temporary companion. They end the song by begging their partner to tell them why they cannot give them what they want and why they are better off alone.

The lyrics of this song reveal the challenges that can occur in a romantic relationship. The singer, tired of waiting for their partner to come home, has reached the conclusion that they are better off alone. The song's message shows that relationships should be partners working together for a better future, and it cannot be one person doing all the work while the other is complacent. The song's chorus repeats three times, creating an emphasis on the singer's desire to be alone and not rely on someone who cannot reciprocate their affection.

Glycerine Lyrics
[Verse 1]
It must be your skin I'm sinking in
It must be for real, 'cause now I can feel
I didn't mind, It's not my kind
It's not my time to wonder why
Everything gone white, everything's grey
Now you're here, now you're away
I don't want this, remember that
I'll never forget where you're at

[Chorus]
Don't let the days go by
Glycerine, glycerine
[Verse 2]
I'm never alone, I'm alone all the time
Are you at one? Do you lie?
We live in a wheel where everyone steals
But when we rise, it's like strawberry fields
Treated you bad, you bruise my face
Couldn't love you more, you've got a beautiful taste

[Chorus]
Don't let the days go by
Could've been easier on you
I couldn't change though I wanted to
It should have been easier by three
Our old friend fear and you and me
Glycerine, glycerine
Don't let the days go by
Glycerine
Don't let the days go by....

[Post-Chorus]
Glycerine, glycerine
Uh... glycerine, glycerine

[Bridge]
Bad moon white again
Bad moon white again
As she falls around me
[Verse 3]
I needed you more, you wanted us less
I could not kiss, just regress
It might just be clear, simple and plain
Well, that's just fine, that's just one of my names

[Chorus]
Don't let the days go by
Could've been easier on you, you, you
Glycerine, glycerine
Glycerine, glycerine

@NikolasWasHere

I was born in 1989.

I lived with my mother then.

She was going through pure hell.

Only the music of the time gave her enough time to tell me that I will be okay, and what was wrong from right.

I am still alive today. I am 32. My mum was 31 when she passed.

Thank you 1990s.

My mums name was Tammi.

My big sister listened to this song on repeat all the time. I fell in love with it and would sneak in her room and listen to it when she wasn't home. I lost her a few years ago to cancer. She was only 37. Miss you Tiffany.

@tremorchristlester4688

Damn she's only 3 years older than me. Sorry for your lost man. Cancer is a bitch. She had great taste in music

@FenrisEx

Listen to it from time to time again without her knowing, my friend. I believe she appreciates it wherever she is..
