Running Out of Time
♫ Simple Plan Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
'Cause the times are gonna change and you're stuck in your old mentality
You can try to lead us on but there's no one else to blame
Won't be left to clean the mess when you're gone
We're running out of time
We're running out of time and you just don't get it
Now you're watching people die and you still don't care
There's a million things I hate about you
It's just another battle when you exercise your authority
When the dust is finally settled will you catch up with reality?
We've been waiting way too long, now it's time for us to play
And we won't be looking back when you're gone
We're running out of time
We're running out of time and you just don't get it
Now you're watching people die and you still don't care
We're running out of time and you just don't get that this is how I feel
There's a million things I hate about you, about you, about you, about you
I don't wanna hear the same excuses
I don't wanna hear the same excuses
I don't wanna hear your story
We're running out of time and you just don't get it
You're watching people die and you still don't care
We're running out of time and you just don't get it
If everybody dies, well you still don't care
We're running out of time and you just don't get it
Now you're watching people die and you still don't care
We're running out of time and you don't get that this is how I feel
I don't wanna think about, this is how I feel
There's a million things I hate about you
There's a million things I hate about you
The lyrics of Simple Plan's song Running Out Of Time depict a sense of frustration and despair with the world that the singer is living in. The song starts by talking about how every day seems like an endless race, but the singer's mentality is still stuck in the past. They then point out the futility of trying to lead others when there's no one else to blame. As they sing "Won't be left to clean the mess when you're gone," the singer acknowledges the consequences of the actions of the ones in power.
The song then goes on to talk about the lack of time and how the singer feels like they're racing against the clock with no one understanding their perspective. They criticize those who are in charge who continue to ignore what's happening around them, even when people are dying. They express their frustration as they sing, "There's a million things I hate about you," pointing at the ones in power who refuse to take responsibility.
Towards the end of the song, the singer expresses their desire to hear something different and to see a change in the world they're living in. They end the song by repeating the line "There's a million things I hate about you," a poignant reminder of the frustration felt by those who are powerless in a world that doesn't seem to care.

Lyrics:
Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you
Do you ever want to run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming
No you don't know what its like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what its like to be like me
To be hurt, to feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one there to save you
No you don't know what its like
Welcome to my life
Do you want to be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more
Before your life is over
Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With the big fake smiles and stupid lies
But deep inside you're bleeding
No you don't know what its like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what its like to be like me
To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one there to save you
No you don't know what its like
Welcome to my life
No one ever lied straight to your face
And no one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I'm happy
But I'm not gonna be okay
Everybody always gave you what you wanted
You never had to work it was always there
You don't know what its like
What its like
To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one there to save you
No you don't know what its like
What its like
To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what its like
Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life

@BunnyBAP
The first time I listened this song I was 15 in my room crying and very depressed, thinking how to end my life. Today I’m in my apartment , with my cat on my lap, buying tickets to Simple Plan’s concert with the love of my life.
Just glad to see how music saved my days so far ❤
