Ode to My Family
♫ The Cranberries Lyrics

Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do

Understand the things I say
Don't turn away from me
'Cause I've spent half my life out there
You wouldn't disagree

Do you see me, do you see?
Do you like me
Do you like me standing there?
Do you notice, do you know
Do you see me, do you see me?
Does anyone care?

Unhappiness where's when I was young
And we didn't give a damn
'Cause we were raised
To see life as fun and take it if we can
My mother, my mother
She'd hold me
She'd hold me when I was out there
My father, my father
He liked me, well he liked me
Does anyone care?

Understand what I've become
It wasn't my design
And people everywhere think
Something better than I am

But I miss you, I miss
'Cause I liked it
'Cause I liked it
When I was out there
Do you know this, do you know
You did not find me
You did not find
Does anyone care?

Unhappiness where's when I was young
And we didn't give a damn
'Cause we were raised
To see life as fun and take it if we can
My mother, my mother
She'd hold me
She'd hold me when I was out there
My father, my father
He liked me, well he liked me
Does anyone care?

Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?
Does anyone care?

Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do

Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do
Doo doo doo do, doo doo doo do

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Ode to My Family" by The Cranberries speak to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and a search for validation. The singer is reflecting on her life and questioning whether anyone sees or cares about her. She begins the song by pleading for understanding and connection, acknowledging that she has spent much of her life feeling disconnected from others. The repetition of the phrases "do you see me" and "does anyone care" throughout the song highlights her longing for recognition and validation.

The second verse recalls the singer's childhood, when she and her peers "didn't give a damn" and were raised to see life as fun. This contrasts with her current state of unhappiness, and she longs for the comfort and validation she felt from her mother and father. The final verse sees the singer resigned to her state, acknowledging that people everywhere think they are better than her. However, she still longs for the freedom and happiness she felt in her youth.

Overall, "Ode to My Family" is a poignant meditation on the human need for connection and validation, as well as the inevitability of growing up and losing touch with one's childhood.

Hey hey, dear Maureno, what a wonderful and very interesting explore video! I loved seeing you on this exciting tour exploring
together with Lesley! The mansion is looking very old and historically interesting too. - I must say, that I am completely awe struck
by the apparent beauty of that location. - Simply amazing! The longer hike through the forest really was looking rather challenging.
But I additionally had the impression walking in mind at your side through the forest, because it was so well filmed.
I was so surprised to see these upside down turned crucifixes and that strange disturbing note on the table, you found in
the entrance hall.
I completely agree to you about these unbelievable dark and strange vibes in that mansion. - The upstairs rooms however were in
a remarkably better condition that those of the main floor, where I had the impression, that so much furniture and many random
items were thrown upside down making the place looking very messy in some parts. - I can also understand your deeply uneasy
feelings there. Was Lesley also sharing those uneasy and and highly disturbing feelings? - Nevertheless I enjoyed watching, and
am already looking to your next explore adventure, my friend. - Stay safe and take good care! So wish you again a good recovery
and hope to see you once in a while. - My kindest blessings, peace and kindest regards from now quite cold Switzerland.

Guys, the lamps on the pole are from the 1970s and are called pole lamps. I'm 62 and 70s were my childhood days. My family had two pole lamps. You missed the really old vintage ovens in the kitchen. They had to be from the 40s or 50s. There are many mansions like this one in NC that are abandoned. The floor to ceiling windows are typical in the South as back in the day there was no AC. I remember my family having old vintage TVs like those in the house. I want one now so I can empty out the guts and put a fish tank in it. About the blood, I'll be blunt here. I would say the blood is from a woman having her menses. Any time you see old mattresses, you will see stains as it is from sweat, body fluids, etc. And the upside down crosses are most likely a "shelf" for the flowers done in some kind of art work. As far as you feeling uncomfortable, I'm not sure. Houses do give off a vibe. And lastly, there are probably either vultures or raccoons in the attic. That is typical of old houses like that. Be careful if it is either one. Raccoons can have rabies and vultures are just mean, lol.

So glad you went back to film no matter what the neighbor said. People in the country can be more skeptical. Maybe you should tell people that you are doing a documentary on old abandoned homes and ask if you could interview them about the place and who had lived in the home.

@katiewray2525

Those stains are way too large for period blood... IMO.

@michaelmontano1364

I sorta figured menstrual blood or even something simple. The upside down crosses with flowers doesn’t suggest satanic. It was an awesome explore with lots of questionable s.

@junedominguez2549

Hi, I just wanted to comment to you that, yes some bloodstains could be from a woman on her monthly but, these stains, if you look are way to hi up near their heads so, I don’t believe that was it, but, thank you for sharing this with all of us!😄

@junedominguez2549

@Katie Wray2 hi, Katie, I totally agree, the blood was near where sleeping people lay their heads, I wrote my thoughts here as well and do believe that someone may have been killed here, go ahead and read my thoughts on it and maybe you can see what could have happened! Thank you for your sharing with all as well!

That's a telephone in the kitchen, not a radio. We had one growing up. Also I don't feel as though anything bad is there , just feels like it may have been abandoned due to probably financial issues or it's location and cost of keeping up etc. Thanks for the video!

@mrteachme101

It's a novelty radio made to look like a phone. Nothing on it was real. The mouthpiece has no holes in it, there is not ringer mechanism on the fake bells and the earpiece is hanging from string, not even long enough to bring up to your ear. Its made out of plastic. Guild Radio and Television Co. and a few other companies made them in the 60s. Some were electric and others were just whimsical transistor radios.

This house is an architectural gem. I’m thinking it would also fall under the category of East Lake Victorian. That is what my family home, built in 1872 is and almost all the woodwork in the house is identical to ours and that particular period. It’s an absolute shame that it’s just been left for so long, but it’s in amazing condition all things considered. What stood out to me most though was that you said you heard animal noises and growling coming from the attic. That’s concerning in any case, but being that this house has a history of satanism, in one form or another, I get the feeling like it was just a loose critter.
. I love exploring places, but over the years I’ve learned you wanna be just as careful when dealing with the spirit world as you are with the living, if not more so.
