Serah's Theme
浜渦正志 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Make my wish come true, let darkness slip aside
Hiding all our hope, mocking what we treasure
Battles we can win, if we believe our souls
Hang in for the light, till dawn
Fate will not leave you, hate will not heal you
Pray and one day, peace shall flow everywhere

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of 浜渦正志's song Serah's Theme, "Make my wish come true, let darkness slip aside, Hiding all our hope, mocking what we treasure," imbue a sense of desperation and longing. The singer seems to plead for the removal of the dark clouds that obscure hope, preventing it from shining through. The imagery of darkness is used to symbolize the challenges that life presents us with, whereas hope represents the desire to overcome these challenges. However, the mocking of what we treasure suggests that sometimes these challenges can be so overwhelming that they can cause us to feel discouraged.

The second stanza of the song is more affirmative, suggesting that if we believe in ourselves, we can win any battle we face. The idea of believing in our souls invokes a sense of spirituality, suggesting that the ability to overcome obstacles can come from within, and we simply need to tap into this source of strength to do so. The final line of this stanza encourages the listener to "Hang in for the light, till dawn," which suggests that no matter how difficult things may seem, hope and light will always emerge, eventually.

The final stanza of the song speaks to the transformative power of prayer, suggesting that by praying for peace, we can manifest it in our lives. Fate is also referenced, implying that it is not something we can control, but we can choose our response to it. Ultimately, the song's message is one of hope and perseverance, reminding us that no matter what challenges we may face, as long as we believe in ourselves and hold onto hope, peace will eventually be within our grasp.

༼ つ◕ω◕ ༽つ WOW Personally I'm with richard adlays. For me, the story of 13-2 was really basic and empty compared to FF13-1.... really really ! Of course it's your opinion to love FF13-2 more then the first one and I don't judge that :)
FF13-1 became in 2011 my favorite game of all time for many reasons:

The story (Second World War references to immerse the player in a fantasy environment with real facts (The Purge; The L'Cie mark;Execution disguised in exile...) - the development of the characters and stories that intertwine, they are all linked together - The love story between Snow and Serah (just beautiful) - The evolving relationship between characters)
The music: All of them !
The world of Cocoon and Gran Pulse, really detailled and beautiful with many different environments
The battle system, tactical and dynamic

(Sorry for my bad english :P)

FF13 was awesome. it was a depart from norm, tired new things and had a great story.
it was muddied at times, but awesome none the less.

people's biggest complaint was the linear feel to it.

I think it reflected the character's struggles. they had little choice in what they could do. and, until they got to pulse, were driven in directions.

then, on pulse, they had to choose to go back into a linear path to proceed.
they could explore where they were for as long as they chose, but not really go anywhere. they had the ILLUSION of freedom while still being confined.

the music was great, too

admit it, it's a true final fantasy. worse gameplay or not, the story and the characters make it a true final fantasy game like always.

@SoOnik30
