Mama I'm Coming Home
Ozzy Osbourne Lyrics

Here I come, but I ain't the same
Mama, I'm coming home
Times gone by seems to be
You could have been a better friend to me
Mama, I'm coming home
You took me in and you drove me out
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
You made me cry, you told me lies
But, I can't stand to say goodbye
Mama, I'm coming home
I could be right, I could be wrong
It hurts so bad, it's been so long
Mama, I'm coming home
Selfish love yeah we're both alone
The ride before the fall yeah
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all
I've seen your face a hundred times
Everyday we've been apart
I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause mama, mama, I'm coming home
I'm coming home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
I've seen your face a thousand times
Every day we've been apart
And I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause mama, mama, I'm coming home
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
The song "Mama I'm Coming Home" by Ozzy Osbourne is a ballad about returning to a familiar place and seeking forgiveness for past mistakes. The opening lines, "Times have changed and times are strange. Here I come, but I ain't the same," speak to a sense of growth and change in the singer's life. Despite these changes, he is still seeking a connection with his past and with the person who raised him - his mother. The chorus, "Mama, I'm coming home," is a simple statement of this desire.
The verses delve into a more complex emotional landscape. The singer expresses feelings of hurt and betrayal, as well as a sense of hypnotism and manipulation. These lines hint at a difficult past between the singer and his mother: "You made me cry, you told me lies, but I can't stand to say goodbye." Despite these negative experiences, the singer's longing to return home and seek forgiveness is strong. He acknowledges that he could be wrong, but is willing to take the risk.
Overall, "Mama I'm Coming Home" is a powerful expression of the human need for connection and forgiveness, even in the face of past hurt.

This is one of the first songs my son learned on his guitar. He played by ear. He had a wonderful gift. Any instrument he could play. I lost him to a car accident in 2014. Today he would be 24 yrs old. He played this song for me all the time.

I’m sorry to hear that. I have four children and lost my fifth when I turned 28. Broke my heart. The loss of a child is an experience you can’t communicate. Best to you and yours. Thanks for sharing Paula.
