The Finale of The Hunchback of Notre Dame Company begins with "Judex Crederis," a hymn that speaks of the final judgment. This hymn is followed by Frollo's proclamation that Esmeralda has been found guilty of several crimes, including witchcraft, and she has been sentenced to death. Frollo then offers Esmeralda one last chance to recant and save herself, but she chooses to spit in his face instead. The scene then moves to the congregation singing "Kirie Eleison" as Frollo carries out Esmeralda's sentence. However, Quasimodo rescues Esmeralda and takes her up to the cathedral's bell tower to keep her safe. The soldiers attack the cathedral, but Quasimodo fights back with giant stones and wooden beams. Meanwhile, Esmeralda and Quasimodo share a tender moment before she suddenly dies, leaving Quasimodo heartbroken. Frollo then claims that they can return to how things were before, but Quasimodo fights back and ultimately throws Frollo off the roof, causing his death. Finally, the congregation sings "The Bells of Notre Dame," ending the tale of Quasimodo and Esmeralda, and leaving the audience to ponder the riddle: "What makes a monster, and what makes a man?"
