One thing I'd like to share with you guys is an experience I'll never forget. So far it has happened only once but I hope that from a one-time experience it will grow to a permanent state of my being.
It's about love. It happened spontaneously, I was doing some renovation work and listening to a song about friendship. All of a sudden there is this feeling that I have in my chest area/heart. Shortly I realize that it's more than just a feeling, it's a state which is part of me and I'm part of it. And I realize that it's Love. Love towards everyone and everything. With it comes compassion. With it comes clarity and understanding. With it comes a desire to share it with everyone and everything. And how can you not share it, as it is so abundant, it's just too much for myself alone.
What I experienced is almost impossible to express with words. I try to do it now but I realize that words don't do the job and never will. It's the direct experience that is crucial and without it you may think that you know what something truly is but in fact you don't.
Then this state just left me. Or I failed to maintain it. But I hope someday it comes back and stays...
Paradoxes is another interesting thing. From our mundane perspective some things may seem paradoxical until you come to a level of realization when paradoxes simply cease to be. They exist only because of our limited perspective, lack of realization and direct experience of states that are beyond conventional logic and understanding.
Many things that Leo said resonated with my personal experiences. Without those experiences I simply wouldn't be able to understand what the hell he was talking about and I understand how difficult it may be to try to explain something by means of words.
The fact that I'm watching this podcast means that I still struggle to integrate my own experiences. I still have many questions.

Curt, thank you so much for this channel and for inviting so many wonderful and interesting people!

@@chasvonplatten1298 no worries. Thanks for the question. I was brought up around the Christian faith and while I remained agnostic, the fear and guilt brought on by Christianity and the Bible made me believe I was going to so-called “Hell” no matter how much I repented or how much “good” I could do on earth.

The notion that God wants to punish was ingrained in my mind for so long. I became depressed, terrified of my mind and God that I actually prayed God would forgive me and not send me to hell, because Hell is regarded as an eternity of torture. I had never been so afraid. It drove me to the brink of my insanity.

At that point, the delusions emerged and I convinced myself that God would transform me into an archangel and defeat satan “evil,” instead of letting me enjoy the “splendors of Heaven,” and work for “Him.”

I didn’t hear voices but one of my hallucinations was that the people on TV were talking TO and ABOUT me, as if taunting me.

I also believed the Illuminati could see me through a painting I did so I destroyed it. Lol. I had several delusions and I believed ALL of my thoughts and when they contradicted each other I felt as though I was doing something wrong.

My mind was a battlefield. I even thought there were snipers posted to take me out if I went outside. In the psych ward I thought they were keeping me “an angel” hostage and every patient was also divine beings like me and the government was trying to stop Jesus from returning to Earth, like the 2nd Coming.

The most memorable moment was when I spoke to another patient who commanded a mourning dove to fly down and stare into my eyes. I thought this man was used as a vessel for God to speak to me. It felt so real, I STILL don’t know what truly happened.

The director of the mental hospital apparently got word of this and spoke to me alone. After I told her, a doctor approached her and she told him, “he’s the one, he told me about the dove.”

I wrote a screenplay of my whole experience titled, “Port Hope,” which is also the name of the Wing I stayed at the hospital.

Thanks for doing this Curt, I haven't missed a single video of Leo's in 5 years since an ex introduced me to him and it was fascinating to see him have such a long and deep discussion with somebody as open minded as you.

It was also a nice revision and overview of many of the things he's discussed over the last few years.

I was excited to hear you mention Frank Yang, as I discovered him about a month ago, and I must say, even though I've followed Leo for much longer, I am now more inclined to follow the theravada Buddhism path as layed out by Frank and find myself agreeing with his view more than Leo's.

From what I heard here, Leo hasn't watched Frank deeply and doesn't really understand Frank's critique of him nor Frank's model of the spiritual path or the world.

While Leo's epistemics and metaphysics may very well be superior, I don't think that his actual moment-to-moment experience has changed all that much even with all the psychedelic trips.

Frank claims to have gone through multiple shifts that have changed how he actually perceives the world and himself in every single moment. And those are states that I believe Leo can only temporarily access through psychedelics.

Frank has this video called "full enlightenment happening live" where he goes through his entire journey and shows his final realization/shift.

There, he actually says that his first cessation/awakening was only 1% of the full enlightenment.

He has recently been going to many different podcasts and I'd personally love to see him here, though I don't know if he's quite the right guest as he's not nearly as technical in many regards as Leo or your other academic guests.

Thanks for the interview, Curt. I enjoyed it. Couldn't have been possible without your bold openmindedness.

I assume I'm about to have my computational world tested rigorously for 5 hours. I accept your challenge Leo. Thankyou for your time.

Leonardo, of all eight thousand million persons currently residing on this planet, you are undoubtedly the MOST holy, wise and enlightened of them all, Sir!

Incidentally, are you VEGAN, or are you an animal-abusing criminal, since it is logically-impossible to be guiltless of causing unnecessary harm to animals unless one was vegan?

@TheWorldTeacher

@@zenroshi3957, is Leo a spiritual teacher or a spiritual MASTER? 🤔

If you are uncertain of the distinction between the two, I shall be MORE than happy to enlighten you. 😇
