7 June 1968. Just arrived in Bangkok from Clark Air Base, Philippines. This was our only night in Bangkok. We were leaving the next morning for Takhli Royal Thai Air Base where we would start flying our combat missions against North Vietnam for the next 6-12 months. I love this song. I and my wife were uncertain if she could have a child without miscarriage. Our first daughter was born not many problems. I (very nervously and badly) sang this to my long distance boyfriend last night, i've never sang in front of someone solo other than once and was immediately asked to stop, so i was super nervous and really bad for the first half, but got more comfortable with the song as the chorus came up, though i still dont think I did a good job... my boyfriend listened to me completely and didnt interrupt, didnt tell me to stop or said I was bad...
