Stranger
A.M.C Six Blade Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Pity the fate of a poor Irish stranger,
That wanders so far from his home,
That sighs for protection from want, woe, and danger,
That knows not from which way for to roam.
Yet I'll never return to Hibernia's green bowers,
For tyranny tramples the sweetest of flowers,
That once gave me comfort in loneliest hoursâ??
Now they are gone I shall ne'er see them more.

With wonder I gazed on yon lofty building,
As in grandeur I rose from its lord,
But soon I beheld my fair garden yielding
The choicest of fruit for his foe.
But, where is my father's lone cottage of clay,
Wherein I' ve spent many a long day,
Alas ! has his lordship conniv'd it away ?
Yes, it is gone, I shall never see it more.

When nature was seen in the sloe bush and bramble,
All smiling in beautiful bloom,
Over the fields without danger, I often
Did ramble amidst their perfume ;
I have wranged through the woods where the gay feather'd
Throng
Joyfully sung their loud echoing songâ??
These days then of summer passed sweetly along,
Now they're goneâ??I shall ne'er see them more !

When the sloe and the berries hung ripe on the bushes
I have gathered them off without harmâ??
I have gone to the field and shorn the green rushes,
Preparing for winter's cold storm !
Along with my friends telling tales of delight,
Beguiling the hours of the long winter's night,
Those days gave me pleasureâ??I could them invite ;
Now they're gone, I shall ne'er see them more.

Oh, Erin ! oh, Erin ! it grieves me to ponder
The wrongs of thy injurned isle !
Of thy sons may a thousand from home do wander
On shores far away an exile !
But give me the power to cross the main,
Calumbia might yield me some shelter from pain,

I am only lamenting whilst here I remain,
For the boys I shall ne'er see again.

Overall Meaning

The song "Stranger" by A.M.C Six Blade is a lamentation of a poor Irish wanderer who is far away from his homeland, Ireland. The song expresses his sorrow for the loss of his beloved family, friends, and the beautiful landscape of Ireland. In the first verse, the singer cries out for protection from want, woe, and danger while wandering far from home. He reflects back on his time in Ireland when he found comfort in the sweetest of flowers, but now, tyranny has trampled on them and he can never return. He mourns the loss of all he once held dear and knows that he will never see them again.

The second verse of the song expresses the wandering stranger's sadness and rage at the lord's acquisition of his father's cottage. The Irishman remembers the grandeur of the lord's lofty building and the fact that he himself had offered fruit from his garden to his enemy. However, he asks about his father's house and realizes that the lord had connived it away as well. He acknowledges that he will never see his father's cottage again.

The third verse reminisces on the beautiful landscape of Ireland - the sloe bush and bramble, the fields, and the woods. The singer reflects back on the time when he used to ramble through the fields amidst the perfume and listen to the joyfully sung songs of the birds. He remembers the days when he gathered sloe berries harmlessly, shorn the green rushes, and told tales of delight with his friends during long winter nights. All of these moments are gone, and he laments that he will never see them again.

Wow the audio quality of this upload is super high. All tracks should be mastered like this.

@MrMarx552

Some elements could be mixed better tho. It´s always down to producers personal taste, but in general it does sound of a good quality.
