I think a side effect of Orym’s reliability and his overall good heart is that people forget how personal this mission is for him. This isn’t a walk in the park for Orym and it certainly isn’t another day at the office. These people not only killed those he held dear unprovoked, but they ensured they could never be resurrected after the dust settled. Hell, they fucking killed him too not that long ago. No amount of justification makes up for the torment they’ve put this man through.

i do not think they should make this decision based on the ruby vanguard. they can destroy them whenever the fuck they want. this is their only chance to free predathos. (if that is his real name.) and I have yet to get the feeling they know and are all on the same page about whether they should let the gods keep getting away with this. the gods are cheating death, what gives you the right to decide who lives and who dies? at this point orym you have to. you are deciding, one that the vanguard dies but two no matter what you you decide the fate of the gods. (provided the martinet is right.)

I would not be making this argument if freeing predathos was easier or more frequent, or if I believed they took the stance they did because of predathos, or if the gods were mortal and their seat inherited, but I do not believe either.

Yeah I think that originally Orym seemed like a 2 dimensional character, at least to me, where he just was part of the group but he's really flourished throughout and this whole journey has been so emotionally awful for him with figuring out all the stuff to do with Thull, so the idea that one of his best friends might end up turning to join the same people who permanently killed his entire family is heartbreaking for him.

Orym's journey was extremely interesting to me from the get-go (ExU) and I like it VERY much the type of character he plays. There's a simple backdrop and on you go. With every other PC in the game, I kinda see where they might end up with by the end, but not with Orym. Hell, he might become the villain in 20 episodes, he might snap, or else. I don't fucking know. There's so much pressure on that little dude. Honestly more that any other PC here. He's the only one taking the threat like ACTUALLY seriously. Sure, it's personal for him, but it's much more than that. He actually wants to do good. Not because he's trying to figure out who he is, not because of trauma or just for fuck's of it. He's not just tagging along. He's the guy who sees evil shit and is willing to risk it all to stop it just because it's, y'know. Not right. Not because mom, not because he's trying to make amends, not because he's stuck with the group or for revenge. Just because what's happening is evil and he can't let that slide. So I have been rewatching campaign 2 and I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT. So we know that the Malleus Keys are being used to release Predathos from Ruidus by potentially being the key to opening the divine gate that keeps it in. They are very high tech, very similar to Aeoran tech, and this is where it gets interesting. The city of Aeor was working on a project known as the “Factorum Malleus” or in common the God Hammer. It was a weapon to KILL THE GODS and it was the reason why they we’re literally smitted out of the fucking sky. There are not many ways to kill a god and I guarantee that having two of them being connected under naming conventions like that, being that Malleus was apparently a word from the lost Aeoran language has got to be close to none. This only leads me to believe that Aeor was harnessing the power of Predathos with their God Hammer, or that this is using something from their old weapon with Predathos now. Whatever it is, it is definitely connected

I've been theorizing that campaign 3 is what campaign 2 could have been had Molly not died.

The city that Lucien was trying to bring back, the purple-pink-red color pallet of the eyes of nine, weird brain science, the connection to Ludinous and the Cerberus Assembly, some moon hints here and there.

And all of it connects back to the ziggurat builders all the way back in campaign 1.

The other big thing is that we know that Ludinus was doing all sorts of excavations on Aeor proper and didn’t like that bed was doing the same, and we know that the fall of Malaysmyr (definitely spelled that wrong) was caused by a similar blight that was in the forest in Aeor. Ludinus was a high ranking official of that city, so there is probably a connection there too. So much connects back to what was going on during the war and what was happening in the background at the same time. Also, I feel like the conspiracy guy meme, but it has been so much fun scouring old campaign stuff looking for important things for this because there is SO MUCH

Love the very subtle deep lore cut when Liam references possibly seeing his husband's sister. We learn she is the "Right hand of the Tempest", which was Liam's previous character Derrig's position in the one shot 'Dalen's Closet'. Derrig claimed he had 3 triplet daughters, and one son. Ok. Liam managed to have two of my favorite lines this campaign so far in the matter of like 5 minutes. The "If I had a daughter, I'd want her to be like you." line was so sweet. On the other hand, "Well, Imogen, sorry my family had to die for her better tomorrow." was completely opposite. The two sides of Orym shown brilliantly. Damn you Liam. You are so amazing.

P.S. Why do I have a horrible feeling this whole conflict is going to end with Orym sacrificing himself.

It was a great line, but I don't think Orym is a peace-loving sweetheart. It's tragic that his family died, but they were bodyguards and/or soldiers of a kind. To the Vanguard they were just goons. You could write the exact same backstory for each of e.g. the key guards they just murdered in the Fey Realm. In the end Orym seems not willing to consider the question at hand (Are the gods with saving? How dangerous is Predathos?) out of personal grief and vengeance. But with regard to what Imogen was asking it's actually just a straw man argument.

It was more so to convey that Orym is one of the more likely members of the group to look for a more peaceful means of resolving a situation (like FCG for example) than the others (like Chetney or Ashton). That, and he generally fills the role of a supportive companion and often carries a wholesome energy with him during interactions with the party and people of the world when the situation isn’t dire or dangerous enough.

I want to see this last night animated... Chet passed out snoring in a little pool of blood in some corner of the ship, soft howls escaping his mouth as he dreams. Imogen and Laudna teary-eyed, sniffling and hugging under the covers. Ashton wielding a half-empty bottle at the stern of the ship, gesticulating wildly and arguing with the ghosts of his past. FCG resting with their lights dimmed, the sweet smell of pastries filling the room. Orym laying in bed, a ray of Catha's light slipping through the porthole and resting on his face, as he sighs in his sleep. And Fearne's song braided with the pulses of arcane energy, as the ley lines shimmer and shift towards their fateful destination.

Man I really liked Ashley's idea (at 1:58:30) of having Fearne ask Orym what they should do if Imogen goes to the dark side.

I love Orym (and I love what good it does to the entire party to have an unflinchingly Good character), but most of all I really like the implications of his friendship with Fearne. Like, what Fearne would have become as a character with her very grey fey morals if she hadn't attached herself to him, and what it says about Fearne that she was willing to attach herself to him in the first place.

Like, the fact that Fearne asked... she just wants to run her future decisions by him first. I see it as kinda delegating her own moral compass to him. What a show of trust, and from a Fey! My understanding of it is she would rather go without a moral compass altogether, but she's aware there are situations that demand one, and in these situations the only thing she would never want to do is disappoint Orym. Liam's tone when Orym asks "If it comes to that, are you with me?" and Fearne's immediate "Always." She does Not hesitate. My god. I'm SO weak for this dynamic.

Also the fact that this convo happens just after the Ashton/Laudna one... SUCH good roleplaying from the whole cast this episode.

I do like Laudna bringing up that Imogen's mom may not be on team Bells Hells. Up until now Laudna's been supporting Imogen 110%, but it's interesting that means she's the first one to ask Imogen "What will you do if your mother turns out to be an enemy?" because everyone else has been skirting around that issue, while Imogen seems to have buried it below the bedrock of her feelings.

It really does give credence to the saying "Our true friends are the ones who ask the hard hitting questions," doesn't it?

So... I like how Laudna reminds Imogen of their autonomy, that the gods can't take away their ability to make decisions. It definitely fits her. Having spent over 30 years with Delilah constantly reminding her that the second life she didn't even want came with strings, and the gods - more like the Raven Queen really - just... not doing anything about it I guess?, being able to choose in some aspects must have been the only form of power she had.
So she doesn't think removing the gods from the picture has to be necessarily a bad thing. Makes sense. But also... um if all magic is supossed to just disappear... wouldn't that technically mean that the mysterious magic that keeps Laudna going would also fizzle out?
I'm also curious what Delilah's initial plan was. We don't know if she's still somwhere there within Laudna and if she is I wonder if she would try smth during the solstice. Idk but breaking out a god-eating entity and losing all magic feels kinda counterproductive to her goals. Well, unless what we heard abt the solstice is just a big lie, nevermind then.
