After writing and recording their first EP as AM Aesthetic in 2009, "(AM)bivalence", they began to scour the internet looking for a drummer. Fellow Connecticut native RJ Dowhan perfectly filled the bill. RJ caught the music bug from his two older brothers, one of whom played the drums. Being that the drum kit was set up lefty, RJ learned to play it as such, despite being right-handed. AM Aesthetic came to NYC, and 2012 saw them recording their second EP “Waiting in the Wings.” Their top-flight musicianship (Rob’s credits include guitars on Beyonce’s latest “Best Thing I Never Had”) and their energetic and fun live shows drew the attention of BHiMG.
Two singles and video pre-releases were announced to local press (“We Caught Fire” November 2013 and “The End” March 2014) and garnered fan and industry attention. Under BHiMG and distributed through Caroline, the singles will be re-released, along with focus single, “I Can Tell”. Rob (a pro, independent engineer hired by Sony, Universal, Interscope, RCA, et.al. for their premiere artists), tracked the record, drums were recorded at Mission Sounds (Oliver Strauss), and mixed/mastered by fellow engineer Jeremy Cimino (Pharrell Williams, Mariah Carey, et.al.). The album was co-produced by the band under the guidance of their label, BHi Music Group. Also, AM Aesthetic has two tracks featured as focus singles on a singles compilation of emerging bands from New York called “From The Rabbit Hole” which is available digitally and on vinyl (October, 2014).
AMA recently performed in three CMJ 2014 Week showcases, "The Red Door" and “The Climax Showcase,” (The Cutting Room, with Fenech Soler, Fifth of Bourbon, Stone Foxes, Jon and the Jones)., and AMA's "We Caught Fire" has secured a sync placement and the closing title of an upcoming full-length feature film, "Love Addict," a romantic comedy.
Life of the Party

She made up her mind, or faked it
That tonight's the final show
She's chasing sunlight, shameless
In a shiny dress, well
She came into the party trying to catch a fix and
She never met a man that she couldn't twist
Now they're headed to the back with the coolest kids
Pre Chorus:
They're always watching, always waiting
For you to come and entertain them
Chorus:
You're the life of the party
Verse:
She made up her mind, wasted
To stumble through the door
She met a stranger waiting
With all the name brand chemicals
Verse:
She's so desperate for attention, needs her name on the list
Her steps are desperately measured and she's clenching her fist
All the faces in the hallway, they're so glad to dismiss
The girl who's desperately desperate for someone to kiss
Pre Chorus:
And they're always watching, always waiting
For you to come and entertain them
Chorus:
You're the life of the party
Bridge:
All the lights are getting to your head
Your eyes are burning but you can't quite look away
The chemicals are running through your veins
You're trying not to be sick…
The song “Life of the Party” by AM Aesthetic reflects the life of a girl who always tries to be the center of attention, pushing herself to the limits to be the life of the party. In verse one, the girl appears with a shiny dress and chases sunlight, hoping to stand out from the crowd. The lyrics state that the girl's mind is made up, or maybe she is faking it. She is attending the party to catch a fix and never has any trouble manipulating a man into doing what she wants. She toys with them using her fingers, making them fall for her. They end up going to the back with the "coolest kids."
In the second verse, the girl stumbles into the party wasted and meets a stranger with brand name chemicals. The girl is desperate and needs attention, and she obsesses over getting her name on the list. Her steps are very measured, and she clutches her fists, trying to stay in control. Everyone in the hallway dismisses her, which leads her to become even more desperate for someone to kiss. The pre-chorus states that the crowd is always waiting for her to come and entertain them. In the chorus, the song highlights that the girl is the life of the party due to her overwhelming presence.
In the bridge, the girl's senses become overwhelmed by the lights, and her eyes are burning. She tries to look away, but the chemicals are running through her veins. The lyrics say she is trying not to be sick, which could mean that she is struggling with drug abuse or addiction.

Was so confused when I heard this when listening to Sadnecessary today. Thought it was weird they used such a different sound in their album for only one song until I realised it was a completely different band lmao.
