In 2008 longtime grade school friends Andrew Hansen and Aaron Ruiz decided that they wanted to escape the financial time constraints of a recording studio to hone in their own “sound” and studio skills. With a few cheap microphones and an old PC,they self produced their album Pictures and Words in the basement of Andrew’s parents home in Connecticut. Despite its small budget sound, the album was a success and caught the ears of several television music supervisors landing dozens of placements on CBS, E, Oxygen, and MTV. The majority of the album showing up on shows like “Guiding Light” and “The Real World”.
In 2010 the duo had their music passed onto Grammy nominated producer Brent Milligan. (Ten Shekel Shirt, David Crowder Band, The Elms) Showing interest in developing their sound, Milligan invited them down to his Nashville studio to record their next album To Be Brave. The month long session was a recording boot camp for Aaron and Andrew.
“From recording guitars to learning about eq and a deeper comprehension of pro tools, the To Be Brave sessions taught us a lot about ourselves both as writers and growing producers...Brent was like a mad scientist in a lab and we were just trying to keep up with him.”
The finished product was met with great success. The album landed even more television licenses from networks like Bravo, MTV, and Showtime. Prominent placements during the Kim Kardashian wedding and “The Real World” overwhelmed their website and spiked album sales. They also had a hit single “I Found You” which has become their most downloaded song and a favorite among wedding videographers across the country. Their song “Heart” was also covered by former American Idol contestant Shuan Cannon in a youtube video currently sitting at 40K plays.
In the summer of 2012 the duo hit their home studio in Connecticut and began roughing out demos for their next project. Hoping to take another stab at the production end of making an album but still wanting another voice in the process, the guys were introduced to Chris Grainger (Wilco, Switchfoot, Kopecky Family Band, Five Knives) another talented producer from Nashville. Chris was more than happy to fill in where the pair felt they needed a third voice. Working both at their home studio in CT and with Chris in Nashville, Aaron and Andrew spent three months recording their latest release, Chase.
The six song EP will be released over a six month’ with one song being released monthly as a free download off the band’s Facebook page starting in February 2013.

Have you been sayin' these things that I'm hearin'
Have you made a fool out of me
Have you made a change in the way that you're feelin
I don't wanna play these games
I don't wanna feel this pain
I don't wanna keep on chasing faded love
I wish that you would let me go
I wish that you would let me go
I wish that you would let me go
I wish that you would let me go
I wish that you would let me go let me go
Have I been losing your love
Have I been making you want someone different
Have I made your heart go numb
Have I made his touch feel like he's your only
I don't wanna play these games
I don't wanna feel this pain
I don't wanna keep on chasing faded love
I think I'm gonna let you go
I think I'm gonna let you go
I think I'm gonna let you go let you go
I think I'm gonna let you go
I think I'm gonna let you go
I think I'm gonna let you go let you go let you go
I know I gotta let you
I know I gotta let you
Know I gotta let you go
In this song, Aaron and Andrew express their feelings of betrayal and uncertainty in a romantic relationship. They question whether their partner has been leading them on and playing games with their heart, causing them to feel pain and chasing a love that is no longer there. They wish that their partner would let them go and stop prolonging the inevitable end of the relationship. They also turn the tables and question whether they themselves have contributed to the downfall of the relationship and made their partner fall out of love with them. In the end, they come to the realization that they need to let go and move on, even though it may be difficult.
The lyrics of this song capture the complex emotions that arise when a romantic relationship is ending. The feelings of betrayal, hurt, and uncertainty are all present, as well as the desire to hold on to love that is no longer reciprocated. However, ultimately, the song is about the need to let go and move on, even if it means accepting the pain of the present.
Overall, Aaron and Andrew's Let You Go is a poignant and relatable song that captures the heart-wrenching experience of ending a romantic relationship.
