Freaks
About Wayne Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
How will you call me
How will you call your fear
When lights will be fading?
Colours
Flares in the nothing
Take everything you've got
Coming
Freaks will be coming
We're gonna burn it down
We'll stand up for our rights and
Nothing will stop us tomorrow
Nothing can stop our rage
Our revenge
Alert the media
And tell the world that it's beginning
Don't you try to hold down
Don't try to hold down...
Call me
How will you call me
How will you call your fear
When lights will be fading?
Coming
Freaks will be coming
We're gonna burn it down
We'll stand up for our rights and
Nothing will stop us tomorrow
Nothing can stop our rage
Our revenge
Alert the media
And tell the world that it's beginning
Don't you try to hold down
Don't try to hold down
The breed
You created
Is gettin' serious
The days have come for some turnover
Clocks are tickin' your time
They're tickin' your time
The song "Freaks" by About Wayne is a powerful anthem that encourages listeners to stand up for their rights and not allow anyone to hold them down. The lyrics focus on the need for action and the inevitability of change. The chorus includes the repeated phrase "Freaks will be coming" which serves as a rallying cry for anyone who has felt marginalized, ignored, or oppressed.
The first verse of the song sets the tone with the line "Call me, how will you call me, how will you call your fear, when lights will be fading?" The image of fading lights creates a sense of urgency and the need to act before it's too late. The second verse references the "Flares in the nothing," perhaps suggesting that there is little hope or progress to be found in current circumstances. But the chorus draws upon the strength and solidarity of a group to push for change, to "burn it down" and overcome obstacles.
The lyrics convey a sense of righteous anger and the need for revenge, but also a certainty that change will come. The repeated mantra "nothing can stop our rage, our revenge" is interspersed with a call to "alert the media" and to inform the world that change is on the horizon. The final lines referencing "the breed you created" suggest a long-standing pattern of oppression or mistreatment that must be ended.
