boulevard of broken dreams
Acoustic Hits Lyrics

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
Of what's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, aaah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah

I walk alone
I walk a...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...

Overall Meaning

The song “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day, as performed by Acoustic Hits, is a melancholic and introspective song about loneliness and isolation. The opening lines, “I walk a lonely road, the only one that I have ever known,” establish the theme, while the following lines, “Don't know where it goes, but it's home to me and I walk alone,” emphasize a sense of displacement, uncertainty, and yet a feeling of contentment with being alone. The “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” is a deserted place that represents a metaphor for life, full of defeated dreams and lost hope.

The chorus, “I walk alone,” reinforces the idea of solitude, as the singer is “the only one that walks beside” him, with his “shallow heart” being the only thing that “beats”. At the same time, the character yearns for someone to “find” him, illustrating the desire to connect with others and to be understood. The repetition of the phrase “I walk alone” in the chorus and at the end of the verses creates a mantra-like effect that highlights the importance of being alone and self-reliant in a world where failure and adversity are omnipresent.

In conclusion, the lyrics of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” put the emphasis on the psychological state of the singer, who struggles to find his place in the world and to come to terms with the harsh reality. The song's melancholic tone and the soaring melody contribute to the emotional impact of the message and allow Acoustic Hits to deliver a timeless masterpiece.

First I actually thought "boulevard of broken dreams" was a cover of Wonderwall.... but this is interesting, lots of good voices...

Aya Madani

Me to. I even sang Wonderwall whike the intro was playing.

+Matt P.M. I never believed the original BoBD as being a cover (the acoustic intro) of the Oasis song. But this cover sounded a bit like it. And the chord structure are pretty much the same in both songs, there wouldn't be anything wrong by playing Wonderwall this way...
