Levy started her musical career when she began playing double bass in high school. She went on to attend the Berklee Five-Week Summer Performance Program (with Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief as a fellow student), and eventually earned a full scholarship to study jazz bass at The New School. Since graduating in 2015, Levy has been playing as Ada Lea. She released the four-song EP (Sainte Cecile) in 2016, followed by the demo album, Bored (Records DK, 2017), featuring 11 appropriately rough yet dreamy songs weaving in and out of apathy, hurling anger, and a craving for satisfaction. She's now signed to Saddle Creek Records.
Ada Lea’s current line-up includes Harris Shper (keyboard/vocals), Matt Rousseau (bass), and Evan Tighe (drums) who accompany Levy on her sometimes soft, sometimes emphatic guitar-driven songs.
Jade
Ada Lea Lyrics

Carves out some room for you
And all felt still
Jade, with the power in her stare
Lowers you to a level
And you're not aware
Two strangers find and turn on each other
Jade, it's always the same name
Beating in my ear
Like a tiny drum beat, fuzzy dream
The lyrics of Ada Lea's song "jade" are filled with intense emotions and vivid imagery. In these few verses, the artist paints a picture of a mesmerizing woman named Jade who has the ability to create space for someone and bring stillness to their troubled thoughts. With a flower in her hair and a powerful stare, Jade has an alluring presence that captivates and mesmerizes the singer.
However, the song takes a darker turn when the singer speaks of two strangers who turn on each other. The person in the corner mistakes them for lovers, hinting at the confusion and the misinterpretation of certain actions. The song then returns to its central theme, with Jade's name beating in the singer's ear like a tiny drum. Through it all, the song displays a strong sense of longing and admiration for a mysterious and fascinating woman.
