I'm Walkin'

I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me (yes)
I'm lonely as I can be, I'm waitin' for your company
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me
What 'ya gonna do when the well runs dry?
You're gonna run away and hide
I'm gonna run right by your side, for you pretty baby I'll even die
I'm walkin', yes indeed, I'm talkin' 'bout you and me
I'm walkin', yes indeed, and I'm talkin' 'bout you and me
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me (yes)
I'm lonely as I can be, I'm waitin' for your company
I'm hopin' that you'll come back to me
What 'ya gonna do when the well runs dry?
You're gonna sit right down and cry
What 'ya gonna do when I say "bye-bye"?
All you're gonna do is dry your eye
I'm walkin', yes indeed, I'm talkin' 'bout you and me
The lyrics of "I'm Walkin'" by Affinity are about a person who is walking and talking about their missing lover. They are hoping that their lover comes back to them because they are lonely and are waiting for their company. The singer expresses the desire to be with their lover, even to the extent of being willing to die for them. They are asking their lover what they are going to do when the well runs dry, implying that their love is running out of time. The singer knows that their lover would run away and hide, but they will run by their side in any case.
The lyrics show a sense of desperation and longing for the singer's lover, who they are dearly missing. The lines, "What 'ya gonna do when I say 'bye-bye'? / All you're gonna do is dry your eye," imply that the singer has been there before, and their lover always comes back to them. The lyrics are trying to reassure the lover that they will always be there for them, even when things get rough.
The song is a classic soul track that was first released in 1968. It became popular in the UK and has since been covered by other artists, including Nina Simone. Despite being a relatively obscure song, "I'm Walkin'" has made an impact in the world of music, with its simple yet emotionally charged lyrics.

Lyrics
Ow!
Who's that sexy thing I see over there?
That's me, standin' in the mirror
What's that icy thing hanging 'round my neck?
Um, that's gold, show me some respect, oh
I thank God every day (uh, ha)
That I woke up feelin' this way (uh, ha)
And I can't help loving myself
And I don't need nobody else, no, uh
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I walk in like a dime piece
I go straight to V.I.P.
I never pay for my drinks
My entourage behind me
My life's a movie, Tom Cruise
So bless me, baby, achoo
And even if they tried to
They can't do it like I do
I thank God every day (uh, ha)
That I woke up feelin' this way (uh, ha)
And I can't help lovin' myself (wooh!)
And I don't need nobody else, no, uh (baby)
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too (oh, ayy)
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
Ow!
(Turn the bass up)
(Hahaha!)
Turn the bass up
Ow!
(Turn the bass up)
Let's go
I thank God every day (say to thank God)
That I woke up feelin' this way (uh, ha)
And I can't help loving myself (ow!)
And I don't need nobody else, no, uh, baby
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too (oh)
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too

The world is cruel
The world is wicked
It's I alone whom you can trust in this whole city
I am your only friend
I who keep you, teach you, feed you, dress you
I who look upon you without fear
How can I protect you, boy, unless you
Always stay in here
Away in here
You are deformed
(I am deformed)
And you are ugly
(And I am ugly)
And these are crimes
For which the world
Shows little pity
You do not comprehend
(You are my one defender)
Out there they'll revile you
As a monster
(I am a monster)
Out there they will hate
And scorn and jeer
(Only a monster)
Why invite their calumny
And consternation
Stay in here
Be faithful to me
(I'm faithful)
Grateful to me
(I'm grateful)
Do as I say
Obey
And stay
In here
Safe behind these windows and these parapets of stone
Gazing at the people down below me
All my life I watch them as I hide up here alone
Hungry for the histories they show me
All my life I memorize their faces
Knowing them as they will never know me
All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day
Not above them
But part of them
And out there
Living in the sun
Give me one day out there
All I ask is one
To hold forever
Out there
Where they all live unaware
What I'd give
What I'd dare
Just to live one day out there
Out there among the millers and the weavers and their wives
Through the roofs and gables I can see them
Every day they shout and scold and go about their lives
Heedless of the gift it is to be them
If I was in their skin
I'd treasure every instant
Out there
Strolling by the Seine
Taste a morning out there
Like ordinary men
Who freely walk about there
Just one day and then
I swear I'll be content
With my share
Won't resent
Won't despair
Old and bent
I won't care
I'll have spent
One day
Out there
