I accept it as it comes frayed and all the unconventional
No flowers at the door, no "I love you forevermore"
It does not mean that there is no love, love, love
I't just not the love you're thinking of
This love, love, love is not what I was thinking of
I know it does not make sense to you nor should it
I'm open to everyone's view question is are you trying to speculate outside the door?
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
I know it does not make sense to you nor should it
I'm open to everyone's view question is are you trying to speculate outside the door?
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
I'll hold until it's time to let go
Although you have already gone
I'll hold until it's time to let go
Although you have already gone
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
You have nothing to say until you walked a mile
I'll hold until it's time to let go
Although you have already gone
I'll hold until it's time to let go
Although you have already gone
The lyrics of "Hawaii" by Ainslie Wills delve into the complexities of acceptance and holding on to something even when it may seem lost or fragmented. The opening lines, "I accept it as it is // I accept it as it comes frayed and all the unconventional," express a sense of embracing imperfections and unconventionalities in a situation or relationship. The absence of traditional gestures like flowers at the door or declarations of eternal love doesn't diminish the presence of love itself, as the following lines clarify, "It does not mean that there is no love, love, love // It's just not the love you're thinking of."
The repetition of "You have nothing to say until you walked a mile" underscores the idea that understanding and empathy require experiencing things firsthand, rather than making assumptions or judgments from a distance. This notion ties into the theme of accepting things as they are, regardless of how they may appear on the surface. The questioning of speculation and openness to diverse perspectives emphasize the importance of empathy and perspective-taking in relationships and interactions.
The repeated lines "I'll hold until it's time to let go // Although you have already gone" suggest a sense of emotional resilience and endurance, holding on to something or someone even in their absence or departure. This sentiment can be interpreted as a willingness to linger in a state of uncertainty or transition, waiting for the right moment to release or move forward. The juxtaposition of holding on and letting go encapsulates the emotional complexity and ambivalence that often accompany transitions and endings.
Overall, the lyrics of "Hawaii" convey a sense of emotional maturity, resilience, and openness to the fluidity of love and relationships. The acceptance of imperfections, the need for firsthand experience to truly understand, and the willingness to hold on despite loss or change all contribute to a thoughtful exploration of love and acceptance in all their intricacies. The song's introspective and reflective tone invites listeners to contemplate their own relationships and experiences, finding solace and wisdom in the acceptance of life's unpredictability and impermanence.
