The road to fame started for Parks when her father submitted an impromptu application to the BBC's Fame Academy. She won the contest, and was given the opportunity to showcase her self-penned song "Maybe That's What It Takes" to a public audience. The song was released on 17th November 2003 and peaked at number 3 in the UK Top 40 the following week. Her debut album Introduction was subsequently released and sold over 500,000 copies
Parks went quiet for a long time, amid rumours that she had quit the industry, but returned late in 2005 with an acclaimed album entitled "Honesty". Unlike her previous album, everything on here consisted of her own work, something which she had been wanting ever since the Fame Academy days. Unfortunately, due to poor publicity and distribution issues this album did not reach as wide an audience as she may have liked.
Here comes the Rain again
Alex Parks Lyrics

Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you
Like lovers do
Walk with me
Like lovers do
Talk to me
Like lovers do
Here comes the rain again
Raining in my head like a tragedy
Tearing me apart like a new emotion
Oh
I want to breathe in the open wind
I want to kiss like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you
So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
(Here it comes again, here it comes again)
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you
The lyrics of "Here Comes the Rain Again" by Alex Parks conveys a longing for connection and intimacy with someone, particularly during difficult times. The rain is used as a metaphor for emotional turmoil and memories that flood the singer's mind. The first verse explores the singer's desire to be with someone they love, to walk and talk freely and intimately. The repetition of the phrase "like lovers do" emphasizes the singer's desire to experience a deep, romantic connection with this person.
The second verse takes a darker turn as the rain becomes a symbol of tragedy and emotional pain. The singer expresses being torn apart by this new emotion, possibly referencing a recent heartbreak. Despite the pain, however, they continue to long for connection with their loved one, now with a desire to "breathe in the open wind" and "kiss like lovers do."
The chorus repeats the longing for intimacy, and the final verse returns to the metaphor of rain as a trigger for memories and emotions. The final line, "Is it raining with you," suggests a want to feel connected even if they are physically apart.
