he's mine
Alice Wonder Land Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I know he doesn't
Have much dough
But he will someday
Somehow

He starts his hard work
After school
Let me tell you
He's nobody's fool

[CHORUS]
And he's mine
(I love him, I love him)
(I love him) oh, he's mine
(I love him, I love him)
(I love him) yeah, he's mine
(I love him, I love him)
(I love him) he's so fine
And he's mine, all mine

He doesn't leave any doubt
He goes his own way
And he's stout
He's right to hold
His head up high
I tell you he's
The greatest guy

[Repeat CHORUS 4x to fade]

I don't know where you got all those great girl-group records, but I'm very greatful that you would share them with us, or we never got to hear many of them at all! Many Thanks Roy!

This song brought me back to my early teen years. Thanks for the trip back to yesterday.

SandySummers

One of my faves. Better than The Swans. Should have been a hit.

@Res Ipsa Loquitur Thanks for the info.

@SandySummers...It was played quite a lot in late 1963 on the very popular WKBW (AM) radio in Buffalo NY where I first heard the song while living in the Niagara region across the border in Canada-so much so that I bought the 45 record-and still have it. Although it only made it to #62 on the (U.S.) Billboard Hot 100, it was higher on some local radio station charts such as up to #11 on CFUN in Nov. 1963 in of all places, Vancouver B.C. Canada. There is a very detailed article online about the song and referring to CFUN etc.

Great song, and indeed the better version compared to the Swans'. Love the back-up vocals, reminds me of early Marvelettes. Thanks for posting!

Love this song-should have been an even bigger hit. I hope we will see a photo of Alice posted one day. Is she still with us? Bought this 45 when it came out in 63 and still play it-kind of has a mesmerizing sound to it. Contrary to what mezskr4 posted a year ago, this is by far the more well known version (even in southern Ontario Canada where I grew up) and as rickrock51 says, this is the version that charted, not the inferior Swans version.

I was a teenager in the 60’s and I never heard this song before. The drum beat intro reminds me of Bits & Pieces by the Dave Clark 5. I bet someone could take this song and remake it, today and have a hit. Back then lyrics were short and repetitive, but allowed the listeners to remember and sing along. Also, almost all songs were under 3 minutes because stations needed to sell lots of commercials in order to profit and stay on the air. Also, the “pay-ola” scandal helped many artists and song writers and labels get more airtime.

Great song from my WLS days! Thanks!

I used to have this in my 45 collection. I remember listening to this on WLS and KXOK.
