Moi Lolita
Alizee(艾莉婕) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

[Verse 1]
Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Lo ou bien Lola
Du pareil au meme
Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Quand je reve aux loups
C'est Lola qui saigne
Quand fourche ma langue,
j'ai là un fou rire aussi fou
Qu'un phénomène
Je m'appelle Lolita
Lo de vie, lo aux
amours diluviennes

[Chorus]
C'est pas ma faute
Et quand je donne ma langue aux chats
Je vois les autres
Tout prets se jeter sur moi
C'est pas ma faute moi
Si j'entends tout autours de moi
L-O-L-I-T-A
Moi Lolita

[Verse 2]
Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Collgienne aux bas
Bleus de mthylne
Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Coléreuse et pas
Mi-coton, mi-laine

Motus et bouche qui n'dis pas
A maman que
Je suis un phénomène
Je m'appelle Lolita
Lo de vie, lo aux
amours diluviennes

[Chorus]
C'est pas ma faute
Et quand je donne ma langue aux chats
Je vois les autres
Tout prets se jeter sur moi
C'est pas ma faute à moi
Si j'entends tout autours de moi
L-O-L-I-T-A
Moi Lolita

C'est pas ma faute
Et quand je donne ma langue aux chats
Je vois les autres
Tout prts se jeter sur moi
C'est pas ma faute moi
Si j'entends tout autour de moi
L-O-L-I-T-A
Moi Lolita

Lolita (x8)

[Chorus]
C'est pas ma faute
Et quand je donne ma langue aux chats
Je vois les autres
Tout prets se jeter sur moi
C'est pas ma faute moi
Si j'entends tout autours de moi
L-O-L-I-T-A

Moi Lolita
(x4)

Overall Meaning

The song “Moi… Lolita” by Alizee is about a teenage girl named Lolita, who lives in a world of her own imagination. She introduces herself as Lolita or Lola, and she is just the same. She often dreams of wolves, and when she does, she feels like it is Lola who bleeds. Lolita has a forked tongue and has uncontrollable laughter that is as crazy as a phenomenon. Although she is just a schoolgirl with blue stockings, she is angry and not entirely soft, as she is part cotton and part wool.

Lolita is a phenomenon that others gravitate towards, and when she speaks, people around her listen. Her name, Lolita, often attracts unwanted attention from men, but it is not her fault that she entices people. As she speaks and gives her opinion, people become interested in what she has to say. Around her, she can hear people spell out her name, L-O-L-I-T-A, and to her, it is not her fault that she is the center of attention.

@glanni

The problem is, i don't know French and i couldn't even remember the melody or the video at all.
I just knew that when i was a child, one foggy late afternoon in fall i sat in my father's car in front of the train station and waited for my mother who was about to arrive with the train.
This song played in the radio. And i was a huge fan of it. But i didn't share this one thing i liked by telling that i liked this song so much. It was my personal, private little home of sentiment.
So i looked around the streets that were getting dark, blue grey light, cool mist in the distance, and there stood a man with a coat and a hat and a suitcase, somewhere on the sidewalk, in between a row of pale pillars.
This one picture is burned deep inside my memory, together with the tones and beautiful language of this song.

Since then i always connected these two things so much that at times i thought the video included the picture and the impression, as i even didn't know the real video.

For years i have tried to reawake this special memory, relive this one moment again by listening to this song of my childhood. But whatever i tried, whoever i asked, wherever i searched for it, i couldn't find it anywhere.

Today, i was again trying, with little expectation, looking through the charts of 2000-2003, somewhere around there, looking at hundreds of song titles, but of course it wasn't there.

Literally on the last song of the playlist was a suggested video i hadn't yet been seing before in all those lists and without much expectation i clicked it, just to make sure and because i was curious.

And then, it happened - i heard those tunes again that i had thought i would never hear again!

This song has been my lifelong fever dream!

Being a 90s kid, dance music was at it's peek and we was blessed with some absolute classics. One song in particular though, has haunted me for years. I couldn't remember the name, the artist, a single lyric, questioned if it was even dance, questioned my own sanity if it was even real.

I would type all sorts of things into google. "Music video, laundry, doing make-up at club, sister". They were the only particles of information I could piece together from my childhood memory. This was a song I would have on repeat, all summer, but all these years of searching (and I do mean years of searching) had left me to believe I was just jigsawing together various different songs from distant memories and this was all made up...

... Until today.

Thank you for uploading this, restoring my sanity and restoring childhood memories of some of the greatest days of my life!
