In 2001 wordt het duo gevraagd zich aan te sluiten bij La Cliqa, een initiatief van de befaamde DJ/producer Orlando Voorn en Rene Phillips (2brothers of the Fourth Floor/TMF). Met dit hiphop collectief, waarin ze samenwerkten met getalenteerde artiesten/producers als Ollie, Perquisite en Beatkidz, trokken ze de aandacht van het Amerikaanse kledingmerk Karl Kani wat resulteerde in een mini tour in Duitsland.
Na het uiteenvallen van het collectief besluiten Alterego & Baldylox en Q-bah de naam La Cliqa te behouden, waarna ze in 2004 een nummer 3 hit scoorden op het steeds populairder wordende Funx Radio met de track "Come Again".
In 2005 besluit het duo zich meer te gaan richten op het produceren van muziek voor andere artiesten en het maken van opdracht muziek. In deze periode verdwijnt het duo achter de schermen en werkt onder andere aan het project "9 levens 7 dagen" van de Zaanse rapper Guillz, wat resulteerde in korte hype door meer dan 20.000 downloads te generen in een dag.
Samen met rapper Ollie startten ze in 2007 het project Mavericks. Naast de productie van de plaat staat het duo steeds vaker achter de microfoon en ontdekken ze een nieuwe creatieve kant van zichzelf. Naast rap krijgt zang een steeds belangrijkere rol in de nummers. Hierdoor ontstaat de behoefte om muziek te maken zonder rekening te houden met de kaders van een specifiek genre.
Zo ontstaat in de winter van 2008 de eerste track van AlteRego & Baldylox en besluiten ze een conceptueel album op te nemen met als titel "Uppers & Downers". Het album is een weerspiegeling van de labiele gedachtegang van de twee muzikale vrienden. Door de muziek ondergeschikt te stellen aan de onderwerpen van de songs en de emotie die dat met zich mee brengt, is het album zeer gevarieerd en uitdagend. De sound van het album kan het best worden omschreven als "Dusty Electronical".
Om het concept op visueel vlak kracht bij te zetten werken verschillende regisseurs,ontwerpers en beeldend kunstenaars aan hun eigen interpretaties van de nummers op het album.
Alle creatieve uitingen zullen telkens tweeledig verschijnen, dus in de vorm van een Upper en een Downer met als resultaat een uitgebalanceerd geheel. "Uppers & Downers" (meet me in the middle).
