Andrew Kenny Lyrics

I'm not battery operated
Or as sharp as you are serrated
And maybe I'll be a steam train all metal and black
If you'll lay down my track
Till it's time for you to get back
The lyrics of Andrew Kenny’s “Hometown Fantasy” seem to be about a person trying to impress someone they are interested in. The singer of the song is offering himself as the object of the other person’s fantasy, promising that he will be able to satisfy their needs. He acknowledges that he might not be the most perfect thing around – he’s not battery operated and not as sharp as the other person – but he is still willing to try, to be whatever the other person desires. The line “Maybe I’ll be your hometown fantasy boy” suggests that he might play an idealized version of himself – the perfect boyfriend, the one who meets all of the other person’s needs.
The second half of the lyrics are more sexually suggestive, with the singer suggesting that he’ll be the “steam train”, the powerful, unstoppable force that will carry the other person to their destination. The imagery of the “steam train all metal and black” suggests both power and danger, with the train possibly symbolizing the relationship they might have. The singer is offering himself as the one who will lay down the tracks on which the other person can travel, leading them to their destination. It seems that the singer is offering what he can give to win the other person’s heart.
