She's the One
Anemone Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When you're gone and it's too late
And you've come to realize
You've been waiting way too long
To have her in your arms for once

I know that it's dead but
In your heart that seems like it's okay
You think she's the one but
Let me tell ya
She's just like another

When you're gone and it's too late
And you've come to realize
You've been waiting way too long
To have her in your arms for once

I know that it's dead but
In your heart that seems like it's okay

You think she's the one but
Let me tell ya
She's just like the next one

When you're gone and it's too late
And you've come to realize
You've been holding way too long
With the ne—...

When she's there your feelings wave
You wish that you could call her yours
You've been waiting way too long
To tell her she's the one you love

I know that it's dead but
In your heart that seems like it's okay

You think she's the one but
Let me tell ya
She's just like the next one

When you're gone and it's too late
And you've come to realize

You've been holding way too long
With the ne—

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of She's the One by Anemone explore the idea of unrequited love and the toll it can take on a person. The song talks about waiting too long to have someone you love in your arms and realizing that they are not the one you thought they were. The chorus suggests that the person being pined for is not unique or special, but just like any other potential partner.

The repeated line "I know that it's dead but in your heart that seems like it's okay" implies that the singer has come to terms with the fact that the relationship they longed for is never going to happen, but they still hold onto the hope that maybe it will someday. The last verse describes the familiar feeling of being in love with someone but waiting too long to tell them, and the regret that can come with that realization.

Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of sadness and resignation, but also a hint of self-awareness and acceptance. The song acknowledges that sometimes we put too much importance on one person and build them up to be more than they really are, but in the end, they are just like anyone else.

liquid._.laughter “*You think she’s the one,”

@davebmud1482

what's that even mean?

@tanner4214

Dave b'mud Some of the verses change slightly, but it’s saying not to dwell or hold onto relationships that ended even though “you [may] think she’s the one.” The next girl that comes around will be similar in positive ways and probably a better match altogether so ultimately, you haven’t missed out.
