Christmas
Ann-Margret Oliver Reed Lyrics

I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won't be the same dear, if you're not here with me

And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue memories start calling
You'll be doin' all right, with your, your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas

Ooh
I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won't be the same dear, if you're not here with me

And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue memories start calling

You'll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Ann-Margret Oliver Reed's song "Christmas" convey the emotions of longing and sadness during the holiday season. The singer expresses their feelings of loneliness and melancholy, specifically highlighting how Christmas won't be the same without their loved one. The use of the color blue throughout the song further emphasizes the sentiment of melancholy.

The opening line, "I'll have a blue Christmas without you," immediately sets the tone for the song. The color blue is often associated with sadness and the absence of joy. The singer acknowledges that they will feel blue, or sad, just by thinking about the person they are missing during the holiday season. The mention of decorations of red on a green Christmas tree symbolizes the traditional festive colors, but the singer emphasizes that it won't be the same without the presence of their loved one.

The lyrics also mention "blue snowflakes falling" and "blue memories calling." This imagery further illustrates the singer's sense of longing and nostalgia. While the person they are addressing may be doing fine and experiencing a typical white Christmas, the singer's feelings of sadness and longing persist.

Overall, the lyrics of this song capture the bittersweet emotions that can arise during the holiday season when someone is missing a loved one. It is a poignant reminder of the power of connection and the impact of absence during a time commonly associated with happiness and togetherness.

When I was 14 and my little sister was 10, my parents dropped us at the movie theater (they used to do this frequently when they wanted to get rid of us for a couple hours). They dropped us in this movie one night. We were scarred forever. We still talk about it. i am 60 years old now.

Right my Mom took us to see this and we also had the sound track album. She embarrassed us in the theater when they show the weird uncle Ernie part she laughed so loud and hard and we slipped down 2 rows to avoid being seen with her lol

I’m nearly 50, this movie we watched as children it terrifying for a kid. But now it’s the best movie as it shows the truth...such cruel parenting needs to be seen

@dragicavujanovic

Iwas 13 when I saw Tommy for the first time. My favourite film still

@silversnail1413

It's a great film but it probably should have been rated R instead of PG. A lot of parents probably brought their kids to it thinking it was a kid's movie, but it really isn't with the heavy themes and insane imagery.
