Night In Tunisia
Arnett Cobb Dizzy Gillespie And Jewel Brown Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
As the title suggests, "Night in Tunisia" is a musical description of the nightlife in Tunisia, a North African country. The song begins with a slow and mystical introduction, created through the use of Eastern scales and rhythms, imitating the sounds of snake charmers or mystics. The music gradually becomes more upbeat and energized, portraying the excitement of the nightlife in Tunisia.
The song features solos by Arnett Cobb on tenor saxophone, Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet, and Jewel Brown on vocals. Even though it is mainly an instrumental piece, Brown's vocals appear towards the end of the song, adding a touch of sensuality to the already exotic atmosphere. The musicians' improvisations are fluid and lively, creating a sense of spontaneity and freedom.
Overall, "Night in Tunisia" is an evocative and highly expressive piece of music that takes the listener on a journey to a foreign land, full of mystery and excitement.

Never heard this album with a bluesy Jewel. Having Dizzy and Arnott setting the pace you can’t go wrong. Great rhythm section ridin’ the blues sky-high. The joint is jumpin’. Dig this bluesy party folks, G’day & Cheers!
