1. The late '60s incarnation: A 'progressive' outfit, Art later evolved into Spooky Tooth in October 1967 with the addition of Gary Wright. Their finest moment was What's That Sound, which was a rehash of Buffalo Springfield's superb For What It's Worth. It's now quite hard to obtain but was included on Island's You Can All Join In compilation.
Their album is adventurous and quite unique British psychedelic rock. It's quite primitive in places, but utilises a wide range of instruments with plenty of sound effects and variety, although side two is a bit nondescript. Guy Stevens handled the production duties. It's well worth a spin.

2. The early '80s incarnation was a "snide anti-new wave new wave band" led by provocateur Mykel Board. Their best known song was "Ugly People with Fancy Hairdos," which served as a searing indictment of pretty much everyone. Try to listen to it and refrain yourself from yelling, "Oh SNAP!" or, "BURN!" You can't. You can't.

3. 2010-present has nothing to do with the previous two British bands. Despite playing mostly progressive symphonic metal tunes. This original instrumental was created by cello player Slavo Repaský, who called for help from the most fairest, who made ART what it is now: Pavel Vandy Prokop - drums, Kristián Kadlečík - bass guitar, Ivan Jelenčič, who sees through his fingers, what You can see through your eyes - keyboard.
Music is mostly inspired by legends like: Bach, Vivaldi or Mozart and adds a little mix from OST from movies like: Terminator, The Last of the Mohicans, Pirates of the Caribbean...

The lyrics of Art's song "Picasso" explore themes of self-confidence, success, and the artist's unique style and persona. The title itself references the renowned artist Pablo Picasso, known for his innovative and groundbreaking artistic style. Art compares himself to Picasso, emphasizing that he is creating his own form of art through his music and lifestyle.
The lyrics also touch on materialism and the desire for luxury items, as Art mentions Cali-Strains (a type of cannabis strain), cars, and designer bags like Goyard. He portrays a carefree attitude, stating that he has no goals and plays with cars as if they are toys. This image of wealth and opulence is reinforced by references to private jets, expensive clothing brands like Casablanca and Vetements, and driving an Aventador (a luxury sports car).
Furthermore, the lyrics convey a sense of independence and defiance. Art declares that he shows no respect and only signs checks, suggesting a disregard for societal expectations and norms. He also references his fame and the company he keeps, dismissing those who have failed in comparison to his own success.

@appletongallery there’s no such thing as academic perfection. The word academic means, amongst other things, to be hypothetical. If you mean as in classical or renaissance art, then that was simply out of fashion. When it was new it was new because you could be more realistic. People could be portrayed in motion or in a candid moment. More risky themes. But just being able to paint or draw something as it appears is not, in fact, all that big of a challenge. Anyone should be able to do that after about three years of effort.
Art is a composition. Not a sketch or a doodle.
All Picasso did was deconstruct everything, which was the style at the time.
The style isn’t important. It’s what is revealed and shown.
I’m not sure what Picasso shows us. Other than he’s miserable.

In his paintings we see & feel the grotesqueness of humanity, which Picasso, through his genius, made into a timeless art form. The older I get, the more appreciative I have become in understanding this particular contribution from Picasso. Reality is harsh and difficult to accept, such as the grotesqueness we all possess within ourselves. Visually, Picasso brought this aspect of humanity to our attention, allowing us to contemplate in a non-violent way, and perhaps through this attention, we could seek salvage, not revenge or harm to others.

@Teng711 I understand the hype PARTIALLY. He was a superb draughtsman and his etchings/prints are fine too. But as a painter he was one of the worst i've seen. Most of his paintings are pure garbage, though there are a few good ones here and there. But saying he had NO talent at all is ridiculous.
He produced a lot, more than 10,000 artworks, so gallery owners and art dealers made some quick $$$ with him. Again, quantity over quality.

@Teng711 That’s so utterly erroneous. Picasso was a master at a young age. He was bored with academic perfection.

I disagree- his distortions are for me a kind of heightened beauty.

You can just see the change in emotion and expression in every piece shown in this video. Truly an amazing man, and an amazing artist.

what i love about this is the simplicity of the work and while most call it overrated to me looking at this is like looking at photographs but instead of seeing what he took a picture of you get to see glimpses of his life and things he experienced throughout and people he met etc

It was a precious time to appreciate Picasso's paintings in chronological order and see the changes in the paintings
The BGM that accompanies the painting further enhances the appreciation. It is a wonderful gallery where I can face paintings sincerely.
