Talking to You
Autopassion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do not try to wake me up in the morning
I'm good at fighting in my sleep
Don't take too hard
Know that I'm angry
And I won't mean anything I say
Hey, hey, hey
I'm talking to you
Hey, hey, I'm talking to you

If you have got to keep me up so late
Promise there is a price to pay
And you're just going to have to accept that
I'm sleeping way into the day
Hey, hey, hey
I'm talking to you
Hey, hey, I'm talking to you
(This song's about you, this song's about you)

Good luck child
Wake me up in the morning
I could have found it in my dreams
Don't take too hard
Know that I'm angry

And I won't mean anything I say
Hey, hey, hey

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Autopassion's "Talking to You" express a sense of frustration and anger towards someone who has disrupted the singer's sleep. They're telling this person not to try to wake them up in the morning because they are good at fighting in their sleep. The singer is likely feeling exhausted and irritable due to a lack of rest, and their anger is causing them to say things they don't mean. They also demand that if this person insists on keeping them up very late, there should be a price to pay. The song is essentially a warning to this person to not mess with the singer's sleep schedule.

The repetition of "Hey, hey, hey, I'm talking to you" emphasizes the singer's frustration and serves as a sort of mantra throughout the song. The line "This song's about you" further emphasizes that the song is directed specifically at this one person who is causing the singer so much frustration.

Overall, "Talking to You" is a raw and emotional expression of a very relatable feeling- the annoyance and anger that can come from being sleep-deprived. The urgency and repetition in the lyrics, coupled with the upbeat tempo of the song, create a sense of urgency and frustration that is easy to feel and relate to.
