In May 1997, Autumn Tears released their second full-length album, "Love Poems for Dying Children, Act II: The Garden of Crystalline Dreams". Erika left Autumn Tears after the release of "Act II" to pursue writing her novel. New vocalist Jennifer LeeAnna was recruited due to her extensive experience and tremendous talent. The first release of "Act I" was originally supposed to be limited to 2000 copies and sold out quickly, but due to an overwhelming amount of requests it was re-released with a new layout and artwork in 1998. All tracks were remixed and remastered. As a bonus, an additional and exclusive track titled "The Intermission", was also included on the repress, in which Jennifer LeeAnna made her debut appearance.
In December 1999, Erika rejoined Autumn Tears as a full-time member.
In July of 1999, Autumn Tears released a mini-CD titled "Absolution". In June of 2000, The band finished their third full length album and most epic release so far, "Love Poems for Dying Children, Act III: Winter and the Broken Angel".
In 2004, after four years of silence, the band recorded the album "Eclipse", which is described in Autumn Tears' official homepage as "the most epic, conceptual, and fullest neoclassical piece of music they have ever offered. Lush strings, acoustic guitars, and woodwinds accompany soaring orchestral soundscapes, painting the backdrop for a staggering array of vocal performances that range from operatic and classical solos to Baltic choral passages and duets".
In 2007, after a decade evolving, the band has finally shed its shell of neoclassical darkwave and gothic sound, in place of a more traditional classical and chamber music style. Drawing influences from such masters as Bach, Brahms, Hayden, Mahler and a host of others, Autumn Tears boasts rich and diverse musical arrangements based on music theory. In place of the usual keyboards and samples, "The Hallowing" employs fully live, authentic classical instrumentation including a live string section, woodwinds, oboe, french horn and haunting, operatic vocals. The album was originally limited to 1000 copies, but due to very high demand, it sold out within three weeks, and was soon re-released with an improved layout.
Immediately after the release of "The Hallowing", the project has been put on hold.

Autumn Tears Lyrics

Les petales tombent parmi les feuilles
Fond toi en moi
En des images d'une beaute sans amour
Et des profiles eclaires en silhouettes ecarlates
Dance with me but one more time
Embrace the silence as I die
And never hear the children sing
The blade deepens, the shame weakens us
They gather and dream of passion and vengeance
The duality of the motion is all that remains
We are death, and death shall be our only companion
Death shall be our only companion
Frozen cries fill the air
Must we die without despair?
Another dream flowing with lies
Bleeding souls, bleeding eyes
Ta main pour toujours mienne
Plonge moi dans le sang et les larmes
Et meurt avec moi encore une fois
Les enfants ne jouen, ne cient, ne dansent
Et ne chantent plus
Frozen skies fill the air
The children cry without despair
A look of peace shows only lies
Deep within their frozen eyes
Mefiez-vous mon ange brise
De ceux qui sont moins misericordieux que moi
La lame s'enfonce... la honte nous affaiblit
Ils se rassemblent et reve
De passion et vengeance
Dance with me but one last time
Take my hand and cry for light
Open thy broken wings
And hear the dying children sing...
The song "The Dance" by Autumn Tears paints a picture of death, despair, and shattered dreams. The first few lines of the song talk about a dying rose and its petals falling among the leaves. The imagery here is a metaphor for the fleeting beauty of life and how it is inevitably coming to an end. The next line, "Fond toi en moi," means "Melt into me," which could refer to the desire for two people to become one, merged together as death approaches. The following lines, "En des images d'une beaute sans amour/Et des profiles eclaires en silhouettes ecarlates," are about finding beauty in darkness and shadows, as the singer is surrounded by death.
The chorus, "Dance with me but one more time/Embrace the silence as I die/Never mend my broken wings/And never hear the children sing," portrays a sense of resignation towards death. The singer is asking for one last dance and for their partner to be with them through their final moments. They do not want to be mended or saved, and the idea of never hearing the children sing again implies that the singer is accepting their fate and preparing to leave this world.
The rest of the song continues to explore themes of death and despair, with lines like "We are death, and death shall be our only companion" and "The children cry without despair/ A look of peace shows only lies/ Deep within their frozen eyes." The song's last lines are a call to the singer's partner to take their hand and join them in death, to "Open thy broken wings/ And hear the dying children sing."
Overall, "The Dance" is a hauntingly beautiful song that explores the inevitability of death and the desire to find beauty and companionship in the face of it.
