Not many recording artists carry the titles “singer, rapper, songwriter & producer” and stand out in each category. But Gotee Records’ latest signing B.Reith defies expectations and excels in each of these roles.
When Gotee founder Toby Mac first heard B.Reith’s (born Brian Reith) music in 2006 he pulled his car over to the side of the road. “It’s amazing when God truly gives someone a gift,” says Toby. “Brian is just naturally gifted from God vocally and his lyrics, when they hit tape, they sort of just ease into your heart.”
Two years later in 2008, B.Reith finished his debut release The Forecast EP. The five-song EP showcases Brian’s range and depth as a lyricist and musician. From the clever humor of “Go On” in which he explains how to pronounce his name (“It’s messed up when they can’t say your name right, B.Reeth, B.Right naw B.Reith!”) to the compelling message of “Cold World”, in which he pleads “don’t lose yourself in it.” The soulful melodies and rich chord progressions of “Awe-Struck” and “Rain Down” showcase B’s skills as an arranger and a communicator of heartfelt and sophisticated material.
Reith's first full-length album, Now Is Not Forever, was released on September 22, 2009 through Gotee Records.
With influences ranging from Stevie Wonder to Lauryn Hill, B.Reith comes from a unique place that combines classic soul with modern hip hop. “God gave me an ear to pick up things,” says Brian. “My style is just an accumulation of what I’ve heard throughout my life, channeled through the unique talents that God has given me.”
Brian grew up in Milwaukee and began singing on commercials at the age of five. His father, Jim Reith, has owned a recording studio since Brian learned how to walk. "I literally grew up in that studio," says Brian. "I took it for granted when I was young. I ran from music and tried to live like the Average Joe. But over time I realized that music is what I'm best at, it is what I was built for."
It wasn’t until 8th grade that he discovered his knack for rhyming. Now the combination of the two is what defines his exclusive sound. “I get bored just singing or just rapping. I can say a lot more through rapping, then drive home a theme with a great hook.”
B.Reith speaks the relevant dialect of today’s culture, and has the heart to address real issues, presenting hope and shedding light into this decaying world. “My number one passion is to connect with people, to entertain them, to stir up emotion in them, and to challenge them by sharing life from a different perspective. There is something we’re all yearning for. I’m just trying to help direct our attention to it, and music is the most powerful way I know how.”
“Trust me, B.Reith is a man of character too,” says Toby. “He’s a guy that truly walks what he talks.”

It won't be boring
Please don't ignore me
All these feelings that you have Gave me
It's in my storage
Can I restore it
How could I ever forget
The first time that we first met
First steps
Please believe you took my breath
Came on down and asked me to Play chess
I shit you not
My heart jump out my chest
I pray to God cause that day
I've been blessed
Took you out and showed you
My world
Made love that night and made You my girl
Pulled out my heart for an ever
Last impression
Sit down let's talk
21 questions
Whatever you want
Point me in that direction
Smoke in the air
But I only see you
Purple haze on the beach
It was just us two
Everyone around us
But I only see you
I'm not going anywhere
Forever I Love you
Ooo ooo ooo ooo uh ooo
Ooo ooo ooo ooo uh ooo
Baby can I tell you a story
It won't be boring
Please don't ignore me
All these feelings that you have Gave me
It's in my storage
Can I restore it
When I wake up and
I wake up and see
So much beauty
And she's right next to me
We'll go dancing
And we'll sway like the sea
She amazing
Captivating to me
Now where driving
Singing to this melody
We'll create this memory
Promise you
I'll never leave
Do you miss me
And the things we use to be
Are we dreaming
Am I lost in fantasy
In B.Reith's song How The Story Ends, the artist reflects on a past relationship that ended, but they now find themselves back together. The lyrics convey how both parties thought they would be better off apart, but now realize that they were always meant to be together. The opening verse describes how they both let each other go, only to come to the realization that they should have been together all along. The chorus questions how they ended up back where they started, but ultimately reveals that the break-up was necessary for them to realize the strength of their relationship.
The second verse suggests that they believed they were doing what was right by ending the relationship and that it was for the best. However, they soon realize that they acted out of fear or desperation, and that their love for each other was always present. The song's bridge implies that sometimes we tell ourselves lies to justify our actions, but deep down we know the truth. The repeated questioning of how they ended up where they are suggests the artist is still in shock that despite everything, they have reunited.
In summary, How The Story Ends is a reflection of a past relationship and how the end of it led to the couple's realization that they belong together. The lyrics effectively capture the mixed emotions, fear, and love that accompany a break-up and reunion.

A bunch of my friend went and saw him at a local arena and they all said he was great. I'm not into him very much because he's not my taste in music but I've heard a few of his songs and he gives out a good vibe and nice message. Keep up the good work!
