Originally formed as a jazz fusion ensemble under the name Mind Power, Bad Brains developed a very fast and intense punk rock sound which came to be labeled "hardcore", and was often played faster and more emphatically than many of their peers. The unique factor of the band's music was the fact that they played more complex rhythms than other hardcore punk bands, also adapting diverse guitar styles into their songs.
Bad Brains have released nine studio albums (one of which is entirely composed of instrumental versions of their early material). The band broke up and reformed several times over the years, sometimes with different singers or drummers. Since 1994, the "classic" lineup of singer H.R. (Human Rights), guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Darryl Jenifer, and drummer Earl Hudson has reunited, albeit performing sporadically.

Yout' Juice
Bad Brains Lyrics

Admiration ain't no crime
Jah created her great use
blessed with life yout' juice
Ponce de Leon never found the fountain of youth
blessed in Zion, yout' juice
Ponce de Leon never found the fountain of youth
Some may say baby go away
Batty Bwoi you're doomed today
Don't overreact like others do
turn your back on someone true
Free hold on tight
It's a very short life
Call it what you may
Don't complain
All in all it's been a life boost
Blenders from Zion
Talking about yout' juice
Ponce de Leon never found the fountain of youth
blessed in Zion, yout' juice
Ponce de Leon never found the fountain of youth
blessed in Zion, yout' juice
so all the time she's looking fine
Admiration ain't no crime
Jah created her great use
blessed with life yout' juice
Ponce de Leon never found the fountain of youth
blessed in Zion, yout' juice..True
Ponce de Leon never found the fountain of youth
blessed in Zion, yout' juice
The song "Yout' Juice" by Bad Brains is about the admiration of youth and the beauty that comes with it. The first verse talks about a girl who is always looking fine and how there is no harm in admiring her beauty. The second verse talks about Ponce de Leon, who searched for the fountain of youth, but it was never found. The chorus explains that being blessed in Zion with "yout' juice" is better than any fountain of youth, and this "yout' juice" refers to the energy, vitality, and passion of youth that comes from one's belief in Jah.
The song also talks about the importance of staying true to oneself and not giving in to the opinions of others. The bridge emphasizes that life is short and one should not waste it complaining about things. Rather, they should focus on the positive aspects of life and stay true to themselves. The song's theme of admiration and appreciation for youth is tied to the Rastafarian beliefs of Jah and Zion, which celebrate the value of youth and their potential.
