John Browne

I remember reading about one of his contemporaries, whose mother was a music teacher who taught her son & "Barbecue" Bob basic guitar and maybe some piano... & I wish that I could find that reference again. The style he evolved was brilliant, and he sang pretty well, too. Man... there were So MANY good to great players in those days... & we're lucky that ANY of them were recorded! ^..^

Bluesmusic Andwhatnot

That other musician, her son, was Curley Weaver, another recorded and pretty well respected blues man. He came up with and recorded “No-No Blues” which is what Barbecue Bob’s “Yo-Yo Blues” is adapted from.

Mico Veliki

Her name was Savanah "Dip" Weaver the GA boys involed barbecue bob his brother and buddy moss . But Blind Willie Mctell was also a friend and they all hang around the legendary Peg Leg Howell who belive it or not was more than 20 years older yet the only one who made it to the 60s

Tek Sight

I thought I had a good knowledge of blues players but this is the first I've heard of Bob. Amazing what the internet reveals. This is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard. And really professional guitar work.

Tek Sight - Many of the blues musicians who recorded in the 1920's and (more) during the 1930's but the number of songs that they recorded and/or that survived on a decent 78 limit the interest in the artist. I believe Biograph released at least one CD of Barbeque Bob and probably a couple. These artists are often worth seeking out. Good luck.

Barbecue Bob is better than most famous guitarists now.
