Basement Jaxx Lyrics

Where's your head at

Where's your head at (Where your head at)
Where's your head at (Where your head at)
Drozze it

Okay are you ready, I'm ready
Don't let the walls cave in on you
We can live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
We can live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
You get what you give that much is true
Don't let the walls cave in on you
You turn the world away from you

Where's your head at (Where your head at)
Where's your head at (Where your head at)
Wasn't that?Okay are you ready, I'm ready
You have now found yourself trapped in the incomprehensible maze
Where's your head at, you'll know how to be
Where's your head at, you don't make it easy on yourself
Where's your head at, what you give is what you get, is what you get
Where's your head at (Where's your head at)
Where's your head at (Where's your head at (Okay are you ready, I'm ready)

Don't let the walls cave in on you
We can live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
We can live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
We can live on, live on without you
Don't let the walls cave in on you
We can live on, live on without you

Where's your head at, Where's your head at
We can live on, live on without you
We can live on, live on without you

We can live on, live on without you
We can live on, live on without you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Basement Jaxx's song Where's Your Head At seem to be about self-awareness and the importance of mental clarity. The repetition of the title phrase "Where's your head at" could be seen as a rhetorical question, asking the listener how focused and present they are in their own mind. They continue to exhort the listener to not let the walls cave in on them, meaning to not succumb to the pressures and anxieties that can overload the mind. They assert that life can continue without any one person, a statement that could be seen as both a warning about the dangers of losing oneself in one's thoughts, and as an affirmation of the value of individualism and self-reliance.

The lines "You have now found yourself trapped in the incomprehensible maze/ Where's your head at, you'll know how to be" could be seen as a reference to the labyrinthine nature of the human mind, and the difficulties that can come with trying to fully understand oneself. The song seems to be urging people to remain mentally resilient and grounded, despite the challenges that may arise. The lyrics hint at the Buddhist philosophy of mindfulness, in encouraging people to stay present in the moment and not succumb to the pressures of the past or the future. Overall, the song could be seen as a rallying call to stay focused and strong in one's own mind.

r/beatmetoit also this whole video to me now, after only knowing the song for 17 years now but like the back of my hand from a Disney skateboarding game and finally seeing this Eldritch abomination, feels like; "Meanwhile, in one of the United Kingdom's branches of the SCP Foundation...."

23 years later and this still SLAPS! I miss the times when music videos were a common part of singles.

@philanselmo1198

me too. music itself was just more fun and interesting back then - for a variety of reasons. the visual element that could be packaged with a song was not underutilized or wasted. heck, sometimes the videos were really what made the song what it was, where the song by itself would've been easily forgotten.

@@philanselmo1198 Internet and the world was opening up not to mention all the advances in music production. It just exploded

@@philanselmo1198 "Weapon of Choice" is a good example of what you describe: tons of people only know that song because Christopher Walken danced to it in a music video.
