Kid stops noticin' the pain after a while. Can't dwell on it. Not with the burden on his back. The extra burden, I guess. Been carryin' too much weight ever since this all came to pass. Gods only know just how much. All he feels with each arrow is another pound on the pile. But he doesn't drop Zulf and shoot back. Kid just keeps goin'.

When the shootin' stops, Kid thinks for a minute that he's just dropped in the middle of the road and wound up wherever we go when our luck and time runs out. So why are the Ura still there? They just stand, bows dropped. Watchin'. Not waitin', exactly. Not gettin' ready for somethin' worse. Realises he can't question good fortune for too long in this new world. Keeps goin'.

One of 'em didn't get the memo, I guess. Takes a shot, as if it'll make a difference on top of all the arrows porcupinin' him already. Gets a brief 'n' terminal reprimand from his boss for it. Kid mighta glanced up at him for a sec. Mighta nodded, or just let his head sag under the pain and sheer godawful tiredness he's been feelin' ever since he started takin' arrows for a man he's every right to leave for the anklegators.

No more thinkin', now. Plate's just up ahead. Kid shifts Zulf's weight on his back a little. Doesn't look back. Doesn't push his luck. Just takes a mercy where he finds it.

And away the two of them go. Back home. Back to the Bastion.

I set my sail
Fly, the wind it will take me
Back to my home, sweet home
Lie on my back
Clouds are makin' way for me
I'm comin' home, sweet home
I see
Your star
You left it burnin' for me
Mother, I'm here
Eyes open wide
Feel your heart and it's glowin'
I'm welcome home, sweet home
I take your hand
Now you'll never be lonely
Not when I'm home, sweet home
I see
Your star
You left it burnin' for me
Mother, I'm here

Shit- all of your songs are so direly underrated like goddamn

I so badly want another bastion tbh, the lore clawed into my brain
Why are they on islands? Was it like that before the calamity? ? ?
H o w do they have enough resourses to stay aloft on the isles? ? ?
W h ydid the calamity even need to happen? It was something being created that went wrong, but yet its a weapon also at the s a m e time, cant be both if the initial part went wrong, then it implies they have a calmity cure and never used it or even thought that far into it to use w/e it is as a cure

Theres gotta be more, like theres no way scratching the surface puts you at the bottom of the bowl so, more lore pls pls <3 pls <3

Think I have some answers(Of course spoilers):
(also I might misremember some details cause it's been a while since I played or read anything)
(And if you haven't finished the game yet or want to replay it I recommend doing that first because the game explains a lot of these questions at various points)

The calamity was the result of a weapon made by scientists in Caelondia during their war with the Ura. They said it was never to be used except as a last resort (but it was used and I don't know if it is ever mentioned why so that might have been a lie). Zia's father was a Ura who lived in Caelondia and was also one of the scientists who were helping build the weapon. When he discovered what the weapon was to be used for, he sabotaged it so it would blow up Caelondia instead when activated.

The world was whole before and the calamity tore the world apart into islands.

The Bastion is the mentioned "cure" because it can revert time to before the world fell apart, however it wasn't finished by the time the weapon was used which is why you need to find the cores.

One the question about resources and how the islands float, I don't know, however, the calamity happened (to my understanding) literally just before the game starts so the world has just fallen apart and the cores are what is keeping most of the areas afloat, although that part is a bit iffy because some places still stand even after the cores are removed. I guess the "thoughest" areas also stay afloat, and as the narrator explains, the kids crest has some of the bastions power which can also bring back floating bits of the earth. So I'm guessing that there are multiple factors for why they still stand(cores, how "though" the place is, how hard they were hit by the calamity, if they have similar powers to the bastion, etc...)

Been what, almost 8 years since we had to carry Zulf home through a rainstorm of arrows and this still takes me back. Funny how moments can stick with you.

This would’ve been a great Easter Egg in Hades for when Zagreus learns how to play the lyre. :D

OH SHITTT, THE LYRICS ARE PERFECT! 😄

@kerred

We might see a day where a game consists of every super giant character interacting with each other. But we as a society or not ready yet

@@kerred I'd pay money for a crossover between bastion, transistor, pyre and Hades.
