@@apullcan I'm not going to say genre-defining records. I love the shit out of a lot of their records but I think if we are talking about genre-defining 90s pschedeelic pop records it's going to multiple bands part of the Elephant Six collective in Athens or like The Beta Band.

Maybe "Yoshimi" you could call genre-defining when it comes to indie bands using electronic elements in a more pop forward fashion while not leaning into full-blown electronic territory. You can draw a line from Yoshimi to MGMT or like all the crap bands followed MGMT's first album. And there's production techniques on that album I think would go on to be used more but I'm giving that to Dave Friedman because I've listened to other Dave Friedman productions and that is his thing.

Wayne can right some good lyrics, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying he is a really cringey piece of shit these days. Whenever I see people making fun of Jeff Tweedy for being this lame dad these days (not the Wilco fan), I always think its so much better than shit Wayne is trying to do to hold on to relevance. And I'm pretty sure Wayne finally started cocaine or doing it regularly in his 40s which is a recipe for disaster. You start doing it in your early to mid 20s like the rest of us.

I know I'm three years late on this, but I've always thought this as well, and was just checking to see if they had the same director. They've both been two of my favorite music videos for years.
