WOLF
Battlesoul Lyrics

Your sword ever could
The wolf stand atop the slaughtered lamb,
Without meaning to eat of it's flesh
Your silence sings louder then
Your sword
Burn away that which was yesterdays,
I never thought i'd see the like,
I am the wolf who calls upon his pack,
Vercingetorix is my name
Burn away the day,
Sound we knew are gone,
Into the tales of old,
Bow down to my name
Burn away that which was yesterdays,
I never thought i'd see the like,
I am the wolf who calls upon his pack,
Vercingetorix is my name
The lyrics of Battlesoul's song "Wolf" describe the power and significance of silence. The opening line of the song states "Your silence sings louder than your sword ever could", emphasizing the idea that sometimes, words do not have as much weight as the absence of them. The wolf in the song is depicted as standing over a slaughtered lamb, but without the intention of eating its flesh. This image alludes to the idea of power and domination, with the wolf being in control of the situation without having to resort to violence. The wolf is named Vercingetorix, which is a historical reference to a Gallic leader who fought against the Roman Empire.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Burn away that which was yesterdays", which can be interpreted as a call to move on from the past and start anew. There is a sense of loss in the lyrics, with "Sounds we knew are gone" and "Into the tales of old". However, the wolf is still dominant and commands respect, with the line "Bow down to my name". Overall, the message of "Wolf" is one of power, strength, and the importance of silence.
