Thank you for making this video! Far too often women of color have been ostracized by the shape/size of our bodies. It's not fair. We can't help that we're thicker in certain areas. We did not create ourselves. I'm so glad that Falyn Fonoimoana didn't give up and instead she fought harder to be better . Seeing her out here makes me proud of my own body and not feel the need to hide.

Even though it threw them for a loop at first, if you look her up you'll see how her shape has helped changed a lot of different cultures views on our body. She stayed strong when they judged, now she gets compliments and support from all over the world..It also shows how fair the sport of volleyball is, by not making special rules and standing behind her regulation wear. She has caused more young black girls to pick up volleyball and beach volleyball, she is a heroine!!!

Wow I needed this. As an athlete with a body who played professional basketball 🏀 for years this is a therapy. I often felt uncomfortable with my body because it attracted a lot of talk and attention and everything that comes with that. When was in college, as volleyball season wasn’t scheduled at the same time as basketball season, I was invited by the volleyball coach to join and help their team because of my athletic abilities which I agreed to until the word started spreading that I joined and once at practice I heard a lot of commotion coming from the court while I was still in the training room; coming to find the whole court filled with guys from the football team, the soccer team and other because they wanted to see me in a volleyball gear which I will admit is more revealing than a basketball gear. I got so embarrassed that I sat for the whole entire game and then I gave up. That was that. But to see you enjoying yourself in what you love doing is a therapy for all those opportunities I said no to because I was self conscious about my body. Thank so much for your courage ♥️🌹

@Jake bacon because an insecure teen looks at images of women in the media with no discoloration in that area and thinks she will be a spectacle if she dared ordain her body in shorts that resemble a bathing suit. She’s a great example of being you & living your life in your own truth. She doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone in volleyball or otherwise. Just do your best in whatever you do for the time you have here. We foolishly spend countless (wasted) hours on the perception of the shell we all exist in (color, body type, weight, hair). Absurd when you think about the end destiny (dirt nap regardless of what you look like). For the most part looks are an hereditary aesthetics stemming from the ancestral region of birth for any species (genes). Looks don’t determine who we are on the inside. Obviously different body types are prone to different levels of strength I am 5'11 and have a more voluptuous figure like this woman and I have never met some one smaller than my BMI who has had the same strength level. There's a reason why there's a weight class in certain sports before competing. I've played sports growing up and I played for state basketball called AAU and NONE of the women who competed at a high level where skinny built women they where all tall with large frames just like me.

I know the feeling, I didn't understand why a lot of girls didn't like me when I was a teenager. I grew up a little insecure, then became an adult and realized they had the self-esteem problem, not me. I have exactly what they want and willing to pay for. @MikeHawk I erased what I originally wanted to say, but I realized that if I came at you in a way that would make you feel defensive then my point wouldn’t help bring change. I’m gonna assume it’s a girl who left the comment, but she never said she started watching because of Falyn, she answered the question from the end of the video, saying yes Falyn is her favorite an said she has been watching since her collegiate days. Regardless of the reason, it doesn’t make anyone silly for watching someone they see and like. How do you know it wasn’t a little girl who saw Falyn and looked up to her just as anyone else see’s someone they like an then follow, or maybe it’s someone who played the sport themselves and are now older and watch the sport, saw Falyn and followed her from there. You don’t know, but what you did do was make it a color thing. I can only hope that maybe, even if it’s not you, someone see’s this and realizes how silly it is to feel a type of way over the color of skin. Really think about that, isn’t it silly that we still in 2022 have people in our world who can’t rise above something as silly as the color of one’s skin?!?!?! I simply cannot express how this story made me giggle 😆and smile🤗 and laugh out loud 🤣because I know that people are hating on her SOLELY because of her shape. I wish the world would stop trying to run away and avert their eyes from the black woman's shape! There is nothing wrong with what God created...and she is not only gorgeous but an amazing dominant player as well. Haters gotta hate right?! 🤷🏾‍♀️I guess if they can't hate on her skills they'll try hating on her body but really there's nothing to hate on there either... so it boils down to simple JEALOUSY.
