Translation:
"To see a world in a grain of sand
the heaven in a wildflower
sustaining the infinite in the palm of a hand
and the eternity in a hour
the one that is forced to joy
it destroys the winged life:
The one that kisses happiness while flying
is the one to live in the dawn of eternity"

At least I hope is the right one......
Edit: Oh wait, I´m stupid, description :P

Blake penned this quite some time ago.
Before the Mandelbrot set was discovered or maybe created.
There is some discussion about which is more correct.
But the words of Blake set to instruments and choir give rise to thoughts of religion.
The older tyme fundamentalist types like to deride science as being anti God and anti religion.
I don't think they get it.
The anthem of today's science may very well be the words of Blake and the orchestration of Bill Douglas.
This is anti nothing.
This is the newest version of religious thought.

In the early days of Christianity the gospels of Mark, Luke, Paul, .... We're translated into Greek, from whence they come through the ages as some sort of time machine.
In the words of Jesus there an ambiguity arises.
And it is quite an ambiguity. Don't believe me? Check out some of what's going on in the MUFON channel.
Jesus takes on some new coloration.
But one of the most interesting is the quote of Jesus: I am the Son of God.

Is that what he really said? Or was it the alternative: We are the Sons of God.

Change a couple words and what we get is not blasphemy.
Rather it may signify the reason the universe, life, and everything.
Granted this is not what we would hold as Christianity.
It seems just a bit closer to Augustus in his role as Pontifex Maximus. The high priest of the Roman religion.

By the way. The similarities exist and while we think of Jesus as a pacifist
That is definitely not the way we think of Augustus Caesar. Too much blood on his hands.
But after the killing of Julius his adoptive father and actual grand uncle was avenged there is the Pax Romana to consider.
By establishing the Principet of Rome it established centuries of peace. Augustus is recognized as one of the most if not The Most effective organizers in human history. So he does look a little better in that life. Combining these two men in a university level or graduate level course may give unexpected dividends.

I remember reading these lines of poetry touching me very much. A long time ago, as a present to my mother, I combined a picture of a real rose with the picture of the Rosetta Nebula and added these lines to it. I am currently sitting here in the house of my old mother with severe dementia and have taken care of her ... now she is sleeping and I hear this song with tears in my eyes..
