Briggs was born in London to Scottish parents from Bishopbriggs, Scotland, which inspired her professional name. At age four, she moved to Tokyo with her parents. She sang in public for the first time at a Tokyo karaoke bar, and immediately realized she wanted to continue performing throughout her life. Growing up with the city's karaoke bar traditions and hearing music from Motown musicians to The Beatles at home also influenced her to pursue music. She started writing her own songs at age seven, which she would perform for her family. She moved to Hong Kong at age 10, where she lived until she was 18. After graduating from Hong Kong International School she moved to Los Angeles, California, and attended college at Musician's Institute
Superhuman

If you could hopscotch on the trees
If you could fly the world in an hour
It would be no surprise to me
You don't need nobody to save you
There's always sun when the rain's through
And you might not believe it, but I do
You're superhuman
Bulletproof as can be
I know the truth is
You can do anything
Gonna fight your share of battles
In the eye of the storm
But you'll get through it
'Cause you're superhuman
I was out in the deep end (I was out in the deep end)
Wasn't even my own friend
But I had to give my story a new end
And had to keep reminding me
You're superhuman
Bulletproof as can be
I know the truth is
You can do anything
Gonna fight your share of battles
In the eye of the storm
But you'll get through it
'Cause you're superhuman
Yeah, you are
(Superhuman, you can do it)
Yeah, you are
(Superhuman, you can do it)
Yeah, you are
(Superhuman, you can do it)
Yeah, you are
(Superhuman, you can do it)
You're superhuman
Bulletproof as can be
I know the truth is
You can do anything
Gonna fight your share of battles
In the eye of the storm
But you'll get through it
'Cause you're superhuman
If only you could see yourself
The way that I see
You'll get through it
'Cause you're superhuman to me
The lyrics to Bishop Briggs's song "Superhuman" speak to the strength and resilience within all of us. The song begins with a series of hypothetical situations that defy normal capabilities, such as walking on water, hopscotching on trees, and flying around the world in an hour. These extraordinary feats are presented as something that wouldn't surprise the singer, implying that they see the listener as capable of anything.
The chorus emphasizes this belief in the listener's power, describing them as "superhuman" and "bulletproof." The singer acknowledges that everyone faces their own battles and struggles, but assures the listener that they will overcome them. They highlight the importance of self-belief and staying positive, asserting that the listener doesn't need anyone else to save them. The singer's conviction in the listener's abilities is unwavering, even if they might not believe it themselves.
In the second verse, the singer shares their own experience of being in a difficult situation, feeling lost and disconnected from themselves. They mention the need to change the narrative of their story and continuously remind themselves of their own strength. This personal anecdote serves to further emphasize the message of resilience and the power to overcome adversity.
Overall, "Superhuman" is an empowering anthem that encourages listeners to recognize their own abilities and embrace their strength in the face of challenges.
